Vaginismus and wanting to get pregnant

Hi ladies,

I'd like to start a thread about vaginismus.

I have a form of it myself and I find it nice to share experiences with people who might also have trouble/experience with it. (Can also be via private message)

I'm 29 years old (I'll turn 30 in May) and have been happily married for almost 2 years now, and together with my husband for 10 years.

In the past, when sex didn't work out, it wasn't such a big deal and we still enjoyed each other in other ways.

But now we've been trying for a baby for 1.5 years, and then vaginismus is quite a problem..

And it seems to get worse every month.

I've already been to a GP and they referred me to a sex therapist, but we can only go there for the first time on April 21st. It's all very nerve-wracking!

I also used to see a psychologist for this..

So if you'd like to chat, reply, ask for tips/get tips, you're very welcome!

Unfortunately, you don't see much on this forum about vaginismus..

Greetings, girl87

Hi meisje87, I just wanted to say that I think it's great of you to start a topic about this! I don't have any experience with it myself, but I'm sure there are many women struggling with it too. Maybe consider self-insemination around your fertile phase? There's also a topic about that where I'm posting. All the ladies there have their own reasons for doing it, and there are plenty of tips. Wishing you lots of success, girl!!!

    C81, thanks for the tip!
Yeah, I've heard several people talking about it here. Maybe I should look up more info after all..
I definitely want to wait for the conversation at the hospital first, and I hope that with IUI the syringe will fit..
But if that ever works out, I'd still really like to get rid of my vaginismus

    Hi meisje87.
Great that you started a topic about this.
I don't really have a vaginismus diagnosis, but I also couldn't manage actual penetration for a long time. Usually, we enjoyed ourselves in other ways, but I felt so bad for my partner. (By the way, he didn't have any issues with it himself) but well, to get pregnant it's pretty handy.
I also went to a sexologist and a pelvic floor physiotherapist.
The sexologist helped me a lot mentally, but it was mainly the pelvic floor therapist who really helped me. She gave me good exercises to relax during sex. She stretched my pelvic floor muscles (sounds weird but it's not too bad), and on her advice, I bought a set of dilators from a medical site to practice with. The thinnest was the thickness of a pinky finger and the thickest was the size of a fairly large penis. I had to practice with these and only move to the next step when it was painless. After a few months, this went well.
Sex is still sensitive and we always need to use lubricant, but it's working.
And really only do it when you're aroused.
    Hopefully, this helps you.
    Good luck

Hey kwebbeltje, thanks for your reply!
I do have a few questions, and if it gets too personal for the site, you can also send me a PM. Or not replying is fine too, of course
I'm going to see a sexologist for the first time in a few weeks and I'm super nervous! At the same time, I'd love it if it could happen tomorrow, just to get it over with and finally make our dream come true... Although I realize there will probably be many more months or even longer before that happens.
How do they stretch your pelvic floor muscles? What should I imagine? Is it internal?
But thanks for your message. It feels so good to read that there's still hope!
Sometimes I'm so fed up with everything that I think: just put me under full anesthesia, give me a shot, and then I'll finally be pregnant... but unfortunately, life and nature don't work like that.
    My miserable body too
