@meriam,

There you are with your good behavior... what a shame, I say. Hopefully, there's better news coming from Zwolle... I haven't experienced it myself, but I want to wish you lots and lots of strength in Zwolle...

Love, Ju

    Hi Miriam,

    I don’t have any experience with this, but I want to wish you both lots of strength and success today.
    Will you let us know if anything else comes up?

    Kind regards, Dani

    Hi Miriam,
    That’s really bad news (to put it mildly!) I’ll be rooting for you guys that something positive comes out of it in Zwolle! Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with this either... Wishing you lots of strength!

    Back from Zwolle and luckily good news. Despite the kidneys being too large and full of cysts, the baby probably has a variant like the one I have. The survival chance is very high, and in about 5 weeks, there will be another ultrasound. We'll see how big the kidneys are then and whether the baby's bladder still fills nicely with urine, which indicates that the kidneys are working. After birth, the baby will likely need several tests by a pediatrician and probably should eat as little salt as possible throughout life. Annual check-ups are also planned, but I'm just so happy. Because with my variant, you can live a long, healthy life, and they're already close to the medication that stops the growth of the cysts.

    Hope that in 5 weeks it still looks as beautiful as possible, given the circumstances.

    I have a daughter who was born 19 years ago with a kidney cyst. When she was four months old, the cyst was removed because it was a source of infection for the other organs in her abdomen.
    My daughter has learned to take good care of the one kidney she still has, like drinking enough, urinating on time, and making sure she fully empties her bladder. If she has any issues with urination, she gets it checked right away to make sure it's not a bladder infection, etc. Her doctor also advised her not to get into car crashes or practice judo, for example, because her healthy kidney could take a serious hit, and she needs to be very careful with it. But otherwise, she grew up without any problems and is a beautiful, healthy girl who has a lot of energy, dances at a high level, and does everything else just like anyone else.

    She really wants to have children in the future, and while that might be a bit nerve-wracking, it doesn't have to be a problem.

    Hi Miriam,
    I also had an ultrasound and they said my baby has cystic kidneys, so enlarged kidneys. The gynecologist initially said he wouldn't survive after birth because his lungs wouldn't develop due to very little amniotic fluid. But after a few weeks, the amniotic fluid increased, so he might make it. I'm now 26 weeks pregnant and quite worried. I'd like to know how things went with your baby, hopefully he's healthy.
