Trying to conceive after removing the implant

Hi everyone,
Next Wednesday, March 22, 2017, I’m having my implant removed because it’ll have been in for 3 years. It could have been replaced, but we’re going for a baby.
I’m curious about your experiences after removal—how long did it take for your cycle to return and when did you become fertile again? My GP told me when I got it inserted that I could get pregnant the very next month after it’s removed. But I’m still a bit unsure about this. Hopefully, someone can advise me.
