Shit, what now? The same name?

Okay.. this is annoying!
I had an exactly scheduled C-section, and we had already decided on the name 2 weeks into the pregnancy if it was a boy, and yes, it is a boy in my belly! We talk about our son with his name all the time at home. Outside the doors, we call him "baby". Every time someone in my circle had to give birth to a boy, I was afraid they would pick the same name. Fortunately, this didn't happen UNTIL TODAY! One more person in my circle had to give birth, my sister-in-law's sister.. and yes, he got exactly the same name as we want to give our son next week :-(

Since I don't have much contact with her, I don't want to change our son's name at the last minute. But I am afraid that my sister-in-law or brother will think I stole it or something. Terrible.
How big was that chance? And today my nightmare came true pfffff.

What do you think about this?
Just stick with the name? And fuckit what the people around us think?

    Breathe in - breathe out.
It's not relaxed at all to stress about what other people might think.
    I'd say just do it.

Just do it!! Don't let someone you don't really have much in common with take away your dream name...

    No more changes...

Just go for it! That seems like a 'good enough' connection, and if you're worried about what your brother and sister-in-law think, you can just say, 'Oh, what a coincidence, right? We already had that name in mind from the very beginning!'

Thanks for your replies (more are welcome!) I felt really bad about it yesterday, but today I'm feeling better. When I look at other names, I just feel like no! I agree with you all that I should just stick with the name.

It'll be a bit weird for my sister-in-law at first, and also for my 5-year-old nephew and 3-year-old nephew who'll get two new baby cousins with the same name in one week... but I guess they'll get used to it and it'll work out fine.

If I may give my honest opinion, I wouldn't do it...
If you have two people in one family with the same name, you always have to explain which of the two you mean. It's also not convenient for any potential grandparents. Besides, it's not smart for the relationship between your brother and sister-in-law either. The same goes for them holding it against you (maybe they won't, but well... you never know). That would be a bit of a shame. But anyway, this is just my personal opinion; you should do what feels right to you. I understand it's a tough choice!

    Thanks for your honest opinion.
I only see my sister-in-law's sister on birthdays at my sister-in-law's place, usually for at most an hour since they're not really that close-knit as a family.
I have a niece in our family named Larissa. Three years ago, my sister-in-law's sister had a daughter and still just named her Larissa. So I think she doesn't really care that much either. So for those max 4 times a year I see her, I feel she's too far removed from us... and we've decided to keep the name. We've gotten so attached to that name after all those months.. I'm not going to hastily pick another name now, 4 days before a planned C-section.

Well, good news: it was weighing on me like a millstone that I had to sit down with my brother and sister-in-law today. I explained what’s going on, and they didn’t see the problem at all—they reacted so lovingly and said to just go ahead with the name! She also said my sister isn’t really your family… and she’s not exactly a family-oriented person anyway. So don’t stress, okay! Just do your thing! My brother was 100% supportive too! It’s such a relief that this millstone can finally come off my neck, and I can focus on my C-section on Thursday!

Hey, that's great, high-risk pregnancy! And of course, good luck on Thursday!

Thank you so much!!! I'm counting down the days now! I find it a bit scary, but I can't wait either, haha.

I'd also say just go for it! But try to be out of there already. I'd find this really annoying in your place, and I'm always happy when babies with other names are born now.
