Brown discharge before period

Hi!
I had a quick question.
I skipped my pill last month and have now finished the second pack. I usually get my period 5 days after the last pill, which happens to be today. But right now I only have brown discharge. Will my period start? Or could it be something else?
Also, for the past two weeks I've had really sore breasts and my veins are quite visible.
I'm curious if any of you have experienced this before.
P.S.: I took the pill correctly, but we did have unprotected sex once.
