How do you deal with friends who do get pregnant?

Hi,

I’ll introduce myself quickly: I’m 36, and my partner and I have been trying to get pregnant for the first time for about a year and a half. I’ve had several medical procedures/surgeries. The last one was last January; the result was positive, and we could start from scratch again. So that’s another year ahead. I thought I had prepared myself for that. But last week I got my period, two days late. Since then, I just can’t stop feeling sad.

Then, last week, I found out that a good friend of mine is pregnant. She had a hard time telling me because she was afraid of my reaction. At first, I was super happy for her and felt no jealousy or sadness at all. But now, a few days later, I feel so sad and don’t know what to do with myself. She’s already the fifth friend who has gotten pregnant within two months. Right now, I can’t handle my feelings and don’t want anyone around me.

I’m having a hard time talking about it, and I’m curious if there are other girls going through the same thing..

I understand you're having a really tough time. It sounds really heavy when I read it.
How are things between you and your partner? I find it pretty hard to be genuinely happy for someone else when you want that for yourself so much.
Hopefully, you can share your feelings a bit on this forum and find some recognition, which helps me a lot. I try not to get too lost in it because then I just end up driving myself crazy. But don't be too hard on yourself, let those tears flow freely.

    Hi Zaraida,
    What a heavy story.
From your message, I read a lot of strength. I think it's amazing that you're so loving towards your friends, wanting them to experience pregnancy. Give yourself a compliment for that!
Your sadness is justified and very important to express and share. Let it out and remember that you're a strong and loving woman.
No, you don't want to go through this, but yes, you will get through it.
Wishing you lots of strength and love. You're awesome!

What such sweet words, this really helps! I'm curious if there are more women with this 'problem' and how they deal with it...

Hey girl! It really is tough! I myself got pregnant after almost 2 years, but I also had a really hard time with situations like that!

There's also an MMM part 4 group on this forum There are more girls in your situation there who have been trying for a long time! Maybe you can share more there

Hey, that feeling is so relatable!
I also have several friends who are pregnant or already have kids.
Thankfully, I get a lot of support from my husband and we can talk about it well together!
Sometimes I also have days where I don't want anyone around me and just want to cry..
So I just do that, nice and easy!
With friends, I often keep up a bit of a 'façade'. I try not to show too much disappointment on my part because I don't want to spoil their happiness. And mainly keep thinking.. my baby will come eventually

Hang in there! And don't forget, we all have those tough moments x
