Hi everyone, just curious: when you hear the name Maël, do you think of a boy or a girl? And do you think it's a nice name?

    Maël: that's the name of Trijntje Oosterhuis's daughter. So I'm thinking of a girl (like Yael/Jael).
    I think it's a nice name. It can also work without the diaeresis.

    I also tend to think of Maël as a girl's name.
    Nael feels more boyish to me.

    I'm thinking of a girl for Maël. I think it's beautiful. I'd put the stress on "el". I'd keep the diaeresis, though, because I'd pronounce "Mael" as "Maal" or "Meel".

    I think it's a really nice name. It was on our list too, but since it's so 'girly', it doesn't work for our son unfortunately.
