Amie or Amy

We're thinking of 'Amie' for our daughter. We think it's a lovely name. We came up with it because of the song by Damien Rice that features this name, spelled 'Amie'.
We actually think this spelling is nicer than Amy. But now I'm a bit worried that people might pronounce it in a French or Dutch way (like 'aamie' instead of the English way ('eemie'.
What do you all think? Will this be a problem, or will everyone get that it should be pronounced 'eemie'?
Thanks for thinking along!

Don't worry about it. If you introduce yourself, they'll get the correct pronunciation anyway.

I do pronounce Amie as Aamie, the French way. I think it's a more beautiful pronunciation than Emie. But I also think Amy is very beautiful!
To avoid confusion, I would go with Amy, but if you find Amie more beautiful, definitely go for it!!

I'd also say Aamie. It means you have to improve people, and then everything will be okay.

Thanks for your replies. I'm still hesitating.. especially because you say to pronounce it as Aamie at first. Difficult!

I would also pronounce Amie as Aamie, sorry... I'd go for Amy just to avoid the hassle with both spelling and pronunciation.

I'd go with Amy for this spelling, but it doesn't really matter that much, I think.
    The name stays the same
