Babbles
Fever

Hello,
I have a question. My 1-year-old daughter has had a fever/elevated temperature for a very long time. It’s always ear infections and mucus in her lungs. She’s constantly being flooded with antibiotics. And as long as she’s on antibiotics, her temperature drops from 40 back down to 37.8/38 degrees. The past few months have looked like this: mid-December we went to the doctor; she had a high fever, lots of mucus in her lungs, and an ear infection. She got some aerosol treatment, antibiotic syrup, and antibiotic drops for her nose. During the antibiotics, her temperature went down to 37.8, but once the course was finished, her temperature was 40 again after 2 days. She was completely exhausted, wouldn’t eat, and just cried. So we went to the hospital, had an X-ray of her lungs, and did blood and urine tests. There were infections in her lungs, but they said if we continued with the meds we had, it should go away. Then she got a little better for a few days (though she kept having a slightly elevated temperature). And after those few days, her fever was 40 again. We went back to the doctor, and again, mucus in her lungs and an ear infection. We were put back on the same antibiotics (which we had already used 4 times). During the antibiotics, her temperature went down a bit, but it never went below 37.9. Two days after the antibiotics finished, she got a fever again, and after 4 days, it was 40 degrees. She wouldn’t eat, was lethargic, and just crying. It was the weekend, so we went to the weekend doctor. He gave us stronger antibiotics, and she seemed to be recovering, but again, her temperature never went below 37.8. And now the antibiotics are almost finished (tomorrow is the last day), and she’s starting to get fussy again. Her temperature is 38.5 now. I don’t feel like my pediatrician takes me seriously, and sometimes even laughs at my questions. I’ve called other doctors, but they’re all fully booked. My own pediatrician still has openings, so I’ll probably call her again, but I don’t have much faith that she’ll actually do anything. My daughter was born with a heart defect and was operated on shortly after birth. She was also pumped full of antibiotics in the hospital for a long time because her wound got infected. I personally think the antibiotics aren’t working because of that. I really don’t know what else to do. Does anyone have experience/tips? She also gets nosebleeds very often and sometimes chokes on her mucus. Then she starts coughing like crazy, turns completely blue, and mucus comes out of her mouth. I tap on her back, and then she gets a little better.
Greetings
