Dare to ask

Our little boy is a quiet little one.
But with familiar people, he's happily more chatty.
I also think he can already talk quite a lot,

But at the toddler playgroup, it stood out that he doesn't understand or know certain things, like naming certain colors or animals in pictures. Maybe a language delay? Now we're noticing certain things.

Had a talk with the school's speech therapist last Tuesday, and now we have a referral through our GP.

What should I look out for, and who is a good, fun speech therapist in a child-friendly way?

They want to get him ready a bit for primary school; he'll be 4 in May.
The most important thing is that he gets the hang of it and enjoys it.

Personally, I think he's still a bit young, but it'll probably work out fine.

Irma, every child learns and develops in their own way.
What you could do to help catch up on their speech and language delay is talk a lot with your child, read a lot, and especially name things a lot...
But as I said before, every child develops in their own way.
    Don't let a daycare/preschool get you down.
Wishing you lots of success, girl

Yeah, I find it quite a conclusion. He’s been there for 2 years and no one ever said anything. Well, he’s happy to go there anyway. I did make my point so that they could have noticed something earlier.

That's quite unusual, Irma. I wouldn't just agree to it anyway. Sometimes a child reacts differently because they're approached in a different way... Besides, it wasn't mentioned earlier, so it's definitely a strange situation... I know from you that you're very caring and would have definitely noticed if something was wrong.
