I actually experienced this myself with my first too. I went to the midwife thinking I was about 8 weeks pregnant, but it turned out I was nearly 12 weeks. They're growing fast, aren't they! :-) My last period was shorter and lighter than usual afterwards, so it could have been implantation bleeding. I was unintentionally pregnant and wasn't really thinking about it at the time.
