Negative pregnancy test?

Hi. My last period started on January 16th. On Jan 30th I had a positive ovulation test, and a few days later it was negative (as expected). On Sunday, Feb 5th, I had a little bit of bleeding for a short while. I noticed it while peeing, and it was also on the toilet paper, and that was it... I thought: yay! Implantation! It was too early to test, but I’d heard that ovulation tests can also be positive if you’re pregnant... Ovulation tests on Feb 8th and 10th were positive!! This morning I did a sensitive pregnancy test and, to my great disappointment, it was negative.... How is this possible???? I’m going crazy.

An ovulation test isn't a reliable pregnancy test. There are several reasons why your sensitivity test is negative.

Reason 1: tested too early, your body hasn't had enough time to produce hormones, so it's best to test after your expected period. All negative tests before that don't mean much.

Reason 2: you might have been pregnant for a very short time, but it ended very early. The hormones have decreased again, so your test doesn't detect anything. You'll get your period a bit later than expected.

Reason 3: you weren't pregnant at all, so there are no hormones to measure, and you'll just get your period. Maybe your egg released a bit later, so your period is a bit later, or it comes when you expect it.

Conclusion: try not to stress yourself out and just wait for your expected period before testing.

My ovulation tests also dipped a week after ovulation, 2 days before the positive pregnancy test (action) in hand. So it can happen, but an ovulation test is of course not a pregnancy test!
