Well, I think it depends on whether you know a dog with that name. But nowadays you hear so many ordinary names that were normally used for people also being used for pets, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. -

I do know a dog named Boris. But it doesn't bother me at all. I actually find it a sweet, warm, and endearing name. -

No, I don't think it's a dog name at all. Just a boy's name. The 'issue' is indeed that people are giving their pets human names.
Just go ahead and give your son this name.
