Is it still 'farther' away a week before the due date?

Hi!

My due date is early March, and my grandma's birthday is 8 days before that. She lives about 1.5 hours away by car. This is my first pregnancy.

Would you go or not? I'm a bit unsure... Although, of course, I could always check on the day itself whether I feel up to going.

I didn't really feel comfortable going too far away, but I also came back because my first baby was born prematurely. The second one was overdue, so it could have worked out, but I wasn't keen on the idea of possibly ending up on the 6 o'clock news with a highway baby. You could check if there are enough easily accessible hospitals along the way, just in case.

I'd just go. Your first birth often takes longer anyway, and you can always go to a hospital nearby.

With my first, I also thought it would be okay, but that was a wrong assumption. I wouldn't take the risk. Especially not with that drive. It's only once a year, but you can't rush an emergency transport. Better to go a few days later than to break down halfway.
