We asked for your opinion

Hi hi,
I have a quick question. My partner and I are expecting our first child. A girl's name is already decided, but we're having trouble finding a boy's name. We both think the name Beau is absolutely wonderful for a boy. However, I'm worried about possible reactions from others since this name has been used more often for girls in recent years. Because of this, I've been thinking of other names, and we both really like the name Luca as well. My question to you is: what do you think of the name Beau for a boy? And which do you find more beautiful: Beau or Luca? ???? I'd love to hear your opinions...
Best regards from me!

I have a very slight preference for Luca, but honestly it's practically negligible! Both names work. And don't associate Beau with a girl at all. I'd write it as Bo for a girl and Beau for a boy. It's obviously a unisex name, so you guys decide. But don't worry about 'the outside world' finding it weird! So I wouldn't rule it out for that reason. By the way, Luca is also unisex!

Thanks for the quick reply. It's true that Luca is nowadays also a unisex name. I guess it really depends on where your mind goes, though, because when I hear Luca, I immediately think of a boy. Nowadays, I think you can rely less and less on the gender of the child when it comes to names, since more and more names are becoming unisex. I always find it so incredibly brave of parents who dare to go for such a name without worrying about possible reactions from the outside world. Unfortunately, I'm still struggling with that insecurity myself...

Names are so personal! If you're happy with Beau, that's good, right? It's not my taste, Luca is a bit more my style.

Beau: great name and really beautiful. Bo is indeed a girl's name, but for a boy I think Bo is really nice.
At what point do you want to stop making choices based on what the outside world - maybe!! - thinks? Names are so incredibly subjective! Suppose the entire outside world loves Hendrik-Jan, what would you do then?
So please: choosing a name is already so difficult. Agreeing on one together can sometimes be a project in itself. And you've already decided! No more doubting. (and then just go with Luca for if #2 - if desired etc. - turns out to be a boy!).

In my reply it should be natural, of course: 'for a boy I think Beau is really nice!'

I think Luca is much prettier! I find it sounds more cheerful than Beau. I immediately associate Beau with a girl, but that's because I know a girl with that name...

Our daughter is named Luca! Pronounced as "luuca." Luca, like Loeka, sounds more like a boy's name.

I think it really depends on what "the outside world" is used to. I know a boy named Beau and a girl named Luca. So I associate both names with those genders.
I think Beau fits a boy just fine! It's a unisex name, so go for it, I'd say!
