Done?!

Hey ladies,

I don't really know where to start, but the bottom line is this: I am completely done with being pregnant!!! We've been trying for 4 years now. Only naturally, because I have an aversion to IVF or, as it's commonly known, "IVF". Even though this seems to be the only possible "solution" to this problem, I don't want that anywhere near me. My mind plays all sorts of weird thoughts about it.

We had all sorts of tests done at the AMC, and it turned out that there's nothing wrong with me, but there is with my husband. His sperm quality is so bad that while it's technically possible, it might take "a bit longer." Oh, dear doctor, it's already been 3 years longer...

So now, after 4 very long years in which I've lost a lot of blood, sweat ;-) and tears! Damn it! I'm so done with this! The worst part is that my friends don't want children and don't need to know anything about it, so I have no one to turn to for this kind of "complaining."

Okay, happy New Year and wishing you all a lucky, fertile 2017! Xxx Zoë

Whether or not to go for IUI is indeed a very personal choice. I did it for my first, but not for the second. With the second, it was instant, and now with the third, it took quite a while again because I have reduced fertility. I was already scheduled to see the fertility doctor again when, of course, it turned out I was already pregnant.
I understand your aversion to IUI. It's just a matter of what's stronger: the desire for a child or the aversion.

I totally get it. It took me a long time too. It was so long that we even considered adoption, but when we looked into it, it was so incredibly expensive and time-consuming that we decided to go for baby number 2 instead, and it worked out. The second one came unexpectedly and quickly after, the natural way.

Ugh, after 4 years I totally get that. And your aversion too!
I can't complain; I got a beautiful daughter naturally. But since baby #2 took so long, I decided to get checked out anyway. The results weren't positive: high FSH, low AMH, and few eggs left in reserve. Or rather: at my (just) 35, I went into early menopause, and the chance of a natural pregnancy is zero. It's already hard to answer whether IVF will even work. And my aversion to the MM is also very strong.
So, on the second-to-last day of this year, I suddenly get bad news, which completely ruins my mood for tonight.
Still, I wish you (and everyone here) a wonderful 2017 where all women who want to get pregnant can leave this year behind them. A new year with new chances!
Strength, Zoe. 4 years is really tough. I understand you're completely done with it. Maybe take a break for a while?

I can totally understand your frustration. We've been trying the natural way for over two years now. My partner has the same issue as yours. It's exhausting, and I'm also fed up with having to put in all this effort. The tension around it all. Because it's my partner's wish, not really mine! I have an increased risk for heart and blood vessel issues. So pregnancy isn't exactly beneficial for me.

We're starting our first treatment this month. And believe me, I'm the type who thinks, "If it doesn't happen naturally, then it's probably not meant to be." What a mess. It would have been easier if he hadn't wanted kids in the first place. Who am I even doing this for?
