who's also a bit fed up with the last few steps?

JojoB
Hi!
I'm now over 38 weeks pregnant with my third little one. Everything is going pretty well overall, but the last part is getting quite tough. I'm sleeping really poorly. I have a lot of pelvic pain and I'm not very mobile anymore. The baby (thankfully) is very active, so my belly is completely battered by now. And then there are those mood swings every now and then...
Now this all sounds very ungrateful, of course... I know from experience that getting pregnant isn't always easy... but still... I really want to hold our girl in my arms now!
Any other ladies who feel like this from time to time?

Is anyone else in the final stages, or am I the only one who's a bit fed up with it? Hahaha????

Here I am finishing up the last few things, and I'm totally fed up with them too... Bad sleep, yeah, frequent urination (well, it's more like dribbling), a very active baby causing painful Braxton Hicks contractions, and yeah, feeling very immobile. And what bothers me the most are my legs... restless legs... it's driving me crazy!!

I've had a lot of hardening of the belly and some back pain like period cramps for the past two days, but I'm afraid nothing's about to happen yet...

    How are you doing today?

Aha, I see 38 weeks too!
I do get more and more frequent hard contractions. Especially in the evening... but they only last a short while and are very irregular.
Yes, I also recognize that dripping on the toilet! The baby can sometimes kick so hard against my bladder that I almost pee my pants. I rush to the toilet and only a few drops come out! Hahaha.
But anyway... as I said earlier... I don't want to complain too much because it's not granted to everyone. I'm just very curious and really want to hold my baby in my arms.
    Is this your first baby?
  4. Yvette #5

That's so true... we're really lucky to get to experience this Unfortunately, it doesn't get easier towards the end. Just a little while left and I'll get to see my little one...
This is my third child. I already have a boy of 11 and a girl of 8. Quite an age gap, which I definitely notice in how I'm experiencing this pregnancy; it's much more conscious. And the kids can't wait to help out either...
And you? Do you already have children?
  5. JojoB started this #6

I also have 2 kids already. A girl of 8 and a boy of 6 from a previous relationship. My boyfriend has a daughter of 5. I also notice that the kids are experiencing it much more consciously and I am too. The kids are very involved and can't wait until the time comes. I'm due on January 9th so 1 day after you. What funny because we're in the same boat even more than thought!

Funny indeed My two kids are also from a previous relationship. For my partner, this is his first baby, so it's quite exciting... And is it already starting to feel things?

My belly has been restless for weeks. Especially in the evening or when I lie down... I get a lot of hard contractions but nothing really progresses unfortunately. I think I'll go past my due date before giving birth. So that means I'll probably have to wait more than a week. My oldest was born at 36 weeks and my second at 40 weeks and a day....
And you? When were your kids born and is it already getting restless for you? What do you think yourself?
  8. Yvette #9

Same here... very restless, lots of hard contractions, and some menstrual-like cramps lower in my back. And indeed, mostly in the evening or when I lie down.
I also think I'll deliver later than the due date... at least a week later. With my other kids, I was 10 and 14 days overdue, so in that regard, it might still take a while, I'm afraid.
By the way, I also have a lot of stabbing pain lower in my pelvis and towards my vagina. Do you recognize that? I don't really remember having that with the other two.

I totally have those pains too! Sometimes they're so painful that I don't even know how to sit. According to the VK, it could be related to the baby dropping. I even had them again tonight when I went to the movies with a friend.

I'm trying to keep my mind off the upcoming birth as much as possible. Waiting is hard. But I honestly can't let go for even a second hahaha
  10. Yvette #11

Right, sitting or standing is really tough then... I already understood that it might have to do with the baby dropping, unfortunately my baby just won't drop down. It would be nice if those stretches were also useful
I went to the midwife yesterday and they might strip my membranes next week. With my first, that actually started the labor, so maybe I won't have to wait that long... Have you ever had your membranes stripped?
And where would you actually prefer to give birth, at home or in the hospital?
  11. JojoB started this #12

Oh, sorry that your baby hasn't engaged yet, because then those twinges indeed don't have much use. My baby hasn't fully engaged either, by the way. I have to go to the midwife tomorrow. I'll also ask about possible stripping. I've never been stripped before. But I'll be 40 weeks next week and I think it's about time.
So you've already been stripped earlier. How does that feel? Is it painful? And how quickly did you give birth after that? Have you had smooth labours in general? I have, actually. From the moment I had to really grit my teeth through the contractions until my kids were born, the first time was 6 hours and the second time was less than 5 hours. So I'm not really dreading it.

Oh yes, and I’d really like to give birth at home if it’s possible. And you?
  13. JojoB started this #14

Just went to the GP. If it's not there by Friday, they'll offer to induce if I want...
Hope it happens sooner, of course. ...
    How about you?
  14. Yvette #15

So you too, exciting... I had an episiotomy with both kids. With the first one it really hurt a bit, with the second one not really. From my experience, you can handle a lot with your breathing. But I still find it quite exciting myself too...

With the first one, the contractions started within 24 hours (thankfully, otherwise I would have been induced). With the second one, it didn't do much. The labor didn't really start until a few days later.
Both labors were quite long, the first one 16 hours and the second one 18 hours The dilation just didn't progress; I kept getting stuck between 4 and 6 cm. Hopefully, it'll go faster this time...

I'd also like to give birth at home, so it'll be my first time doing that. I've also looked into hypnobirthing; I didn't take a course but did read books, watch videos, etc. Do you know about that? I find it very interesting and it has given me more confidence in this upcoming birth.
  15. JojoB started this #16

Hmmmm..... those are indeed long labours. I'm not too familiar with hypnobirthing. But if it gives you confidence, isn't that a good thing?
Are you also starting to focus on every cramp or little pain you feel? I really don't remember being like that last time. I'm constantly on it.... I'm going crazy. Hahaha
  16. JojoB started this #17

    Good morning!
    D-DAY for you!
Maybe it’s secretly starting to stir a bit?
I found the last time strange... when it just passes by.
At most 2 more weeks and then we’ll both have given birth for sure.
  17. Yvette #18

Yes, my D-day. For now, nothing's happening yet, but the day isn't over either It's crazy, right? When this day passes, it's the day/date you've mentioned so often and attached so much weight to...

So for you, it's tomorrow. It would be nice to give birth on the actual due date. I think that only happens in 3% of cases... Anyway, we don't have to wait longer than two weeks, which is one thing that's for sure

I've also been thinking about it a lot: could this be it... just to feel it... no, not really... oh, what am I feeling now... hahaha, very relatable, right!
  18. Yvette #19

It's still quiet here... Had a few cramps last night but nothing seems to be progressing for now. Did nothing else happen for you yesterday either?
It's nice that the kids are back at school, I think, so I can just relax a bit Otherwise, just waiting and seeing again...
  19. JojoB started this #20

It's all calm here too. I'm actually liking taking it easy now that I've got the place to myself. I went back to bed a little after 9 this morning and I'm still lying there Hahaha.
Yesterday I had mega stress with my mom because she doesn't want/can't be on standby continuously during the weekend if I end up getting stripped. Fortunately, my little brother is a bit more flexible. But it was quite a letdown. I was and still am really angry about it. So that doesn't encourage a smooth delivery in my eyes, either.
It's sorted now though, and I feel very supported by both my brothers and their girlfriends. But I'm really disappointed in my own mom...
I'll have a quick shower and then run a few errands.
    It's annoying, isn't it, waiting...
