Lize-Lotte or just Lotte. We want to shorten it to Lot. But Lize-Lotte can also be shortened to Lies.. And we think that's totally not nice.

I'd go for Lotte, it's nice and smooth. And Lize-Lotte is a bit more old-fashioned.

    Thanks for your reply!

Personally I think Lotte is much nicer, so that would be my choice.

Thanks for your reply, Maria! Phew, so difficult!
  5. Maria1993 #6

You could also write it as one name..? Liselotte? I think I like that better than Lize-Lotte.
  6. Maria1993 #7

If you start using the nickname Lot from the beginning, people will naturally pick it up.
But it does make more sense to say Lies, indeed.

Yeah.. I immediately think of Lies de Pies.. I don't want to do that to her haha! But Lotte is so standard.. I myself also have a special name and everyone knows who I am. You get it? Otherwise she'll be Lotte A or Lotte B...
  8. Maria1993 #9

Haha.. no, that is quite sad, yeah!
Yeah, but you never really know... My daughter is named Mirthe, which is also a name you don't hear that often.
Still, a week later, another Mirthe was born around here. So it's always Mirthe A at school.
    Maybe Lotte-Lize then?
  9. puk0316 #10

Oh yeah.. You always stick to it, right.. It's tough though! Picking a name! We already had a list before I got pregnant.. But we didn't like those names anymore. Mirthe is also a really nice name!

I think Lize-Lotte is really nice.
Lotte feels a bit boring to me.

How funny is this, that those are also the names we want to choose between

I really like both Lize-Lotte and Liselotte. As long as you're consistent with using the full name (and don't go around annoying people by correcting them, haha), this tends to get adopted a lot. In my ex-family, a boy was born who also got a double name. Everyone thought he'd quickly be referred to by just one name. But since the parents kept saying the whole name, everyone ended up doing the same.

Thanks for your replies! I notice we’ve secretly already made up our minds... I get happy when someone says Lize-Lotte is nice! And I feel sad when only Lotte is chosen. Then it’s pretty clear, haha!
  14. puk0316 #15

Nice, Stephanie! What's on your list on the 1st?
  15. Anonymous Guest #16

    I like Lize-Lotte better....
  16. Stephanie #17

    @Puk, I just think Lize

I think you two are perfect for each other reading your reply! Lovely name though! A nice double name with a cool abbreviation!
  18. Anonymous Guest #19

    Yes, you're out!
(oh - to make it tricky - Lotta?)
  19. dvduren #20

As the poll asks, I voted for Lotte.
I find Lize-Lotte really hard to spell. Because on its own, I think the name is nicer than Lotte! You hear Lotte a lot indeed.
    What do you think of:
    - Lieselot (then you also have your abbreviation Lot! I think that's the nicest option actually :-) )
    or
    - Lieselotte
