Vagina after stitches

Hey,
I gave birth 3 weeks ago with an episiotomy. They stitched 4 threads after the cut, but 2 were already cut after 5 days because the pain from the episiotomy was so bad.
They are dissolvable stitches, so I actually don't know if the others are still there or not.
Yesterday, my husband and I were intimate for the first time. He was 'relieved' about something, he said, because everything still felt the same as before. Now I find that after giving birth to a baby of almost 4kg, that's pretty unlikely. I think those stitches might still be pulling a bit?
So my question is, does your vagina actually feel just as tight after the stitches dissolve? Or will we only know how it really is down there once they're gone, to put it more directly.

Those threads aren't muscles. All they do is hold the skin layers together so they can grow back together. Any tightening that happens is done by your body itself. So yes, your vagina will tighten on its own even after the stitches are dissolved.
