Bad result from the combined test

Linda
Hi, my name is Linda and I'm 37. I'm currently 12 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Yesterday I had a combined screening test and unfortunately got a risk calculation of 1 in 80. I was absolutely shocked by that. The nuchal translucency was normal at 1.7mm and everything else was checked thoroughly. Now I have to go to Erasmus MC tomorrow for an amniocentesis and will get the results in 1 to 2 weeks. I'm so incredibly scared. I was wondering if there are any women here who have experience with this. I really don't know what to expect.

I don't have any experience with this, but I still want to wish you lots of strength.

    Hi Linda,
When I was pregnant with my son, I was 36 and we got a risk calculation of 1:4! The NIPT after that was fine, and we ended up with a perfectly healthy boy. At the same time, I was pregnant with a colleague who was 31. She had a risk of 1:10. The amniocentesis was fine too, and she also gave birth to a perfectly healthy boy. And a friend also got a risk of 1:10, and everything was fine there as well.
Of course, you get scared by these risks, but the chance that everything will be okay is still much greater!
Good luck during these exciting weeks,
    Kaatje

Thank you so much for your replies. I'm really impressed. Just let it wash over me and wait it out. Super happy for you that you've had a healthy baby, Kaatje, and thank you, Jennifer.
