Suddenly a very long cycle

Hi ladies, I'm new here on the forum so if there's already a topic with this question, my apologies!

My boyfriend (27) and I (23) have been trying (consciously) to get pregnant for a while now. I stopped the pill last August after using it for about 10/11 years (I started on the pill really early because I was so irregular). I was familiar with the "post-pill" period and took that into account. I have to be honest and say I didn't notice much of it, except that I had very sensitive breasts in the first month after stopping.. This stopped after a couple of weeks.

I had to wait a long time for my first period, about two months. I knew this could happen so I didn't mind it too much and didn't think about it too much. Eventually, my cycle returned nicely over 4 months, going from 60 days to 30/31 days. I had this for three/four months, then suddenly my period didn't come. I waited and waited and after being a month late and having taken many pregnancy tests, I went to the GP. They took a blood sample and the levels were fine. Three weeks later (so almost two months late!) I got my period which was really nothing special. Three days and it was gone... Now I'm in the same situation again, being a month 'late' again. I haven't taken a test yet because I don't want to focus too much on it. But probably subconsciously I am? In the beginning when we were trying, I was very focused on it and I thought that had settled down by now.. Or will I subconsciously be so focused on it that I somehow lock my body or something?

Are there other ladies here who suddenly have very long cycles after having had a stable one for a while? I'm not too worried about it but the chance of actually getting pregnant is smaller this way...

I haven't done ovulation tests yet because I was actually starting to trust my cycle...

What could this be? I don't feel like it's stress because right now my life is running smoothly and I feel happy...

I'd try a pregnancy test first and if it's negative, then try using ovulation tests. That way you can at least check exactly when your ovulation is. Then you'll know your fertile days and when you have the best chance of getting pregnant, and you can also roughly predict your period date. If your cycle keeps being long, I'd go see the gynecologist anyway.

    Hey hey,

I’ve done a test in the meantime and I’m seeing a tiny, faint line just after the reading time (I used the Clearblue tests 2 for 5). I’m aware that these tests often give a kind of evaporation line though.

I’d already talked to my boyfriend about starting to use ovulation tests. So I’ll go ahead and do that! With a cycle of suddenly over two months, it’s pretty hard to guess when my ovulation is.

    Thanks for your reply! Xx
