Can I make it?

Hey!
We're expecting our 2nd child in January, a boy this time.

We were thinking of the name Oliver... But.... my sister-in-law has let it slip several times that if she ever has a girl she wants to name her Olivia. Now I'm really bothered that these names are so similar...

My partner says not to worry about it, but I do...

What do you all think about this?

Best regards!

I’d just do it if you like the name and you don’t go through with it, you might regret it later? And it’s not the same name anyway, of course..

    Sure you can do this!

I’d probably have a bit of a problem with this too.. since they’re pretty much the same names and she’s already pointed it out a few times..
Don’t say that you should just look for another name right away, but I do understand that it’s difficult for you and that you’re having a hard time with it..

    Agreed with Meisje89.

Maybe run it by your sister-in-law?

The problem is that we don't want to tell the family the gender, so it's hard to bring it up

    Then you're talking about a boy's name and a girl's name

    Great tip from Jolien!

    I would do it then.
Maybe they can't have kids at all (or no girls anymore) or there's a long gap between them.
Or they might have chosen a different name by then.

If he really wants it, I'd probably do it.

My sister's son is named Jorn, and our son is Jurre. I had my doubts during pregnancy, but I'm glad I went with it. My sister didn't mind at all.

Tricky indeed, but do what feels right for you. We're pregnant with our second child, and the name we like for a girl apparently was also on my sister's list. That's pretty sneaky, but in the end, you never know if she'll have a girl or if she'll actually go with that name, and then you'd have wasted it for nothing.

I would do it. Your sister-in-law isn't pregnant yet, and it's not even sure if she'll have a boy!

Haha I of course mean a girl.
