I am in shock

Went baby shopping with my mom this morning.
Crib, bassinet, dresser, and stroller...
But seriously omg ...

We laughed at a lot of the prices, wondering how people can still buy them, especially... for example, we saw a really nice bassinet for over 600 euros...
Good heavens, seriously. I mean, I'm shopping for my baby, not for myself...
Of course, I see it, it's fine... it's probably just my perspective on life

But I have to be honest, I was really shocked by certain prices.
With certain products, I get the feeling that people are overpaying...
Of course, you're paying for your baby's safety, and we all know that's priceless... But at this point, it's just not fun anymore to buy a nice, good, affordable stroller... And yeah, then it's nice to get a free diaper bag, mind you>> worth 30 euros

So... That's off my chest!! hihi

Look, you know what it is, new life and dying, it's full of emotions. A lot of people pay so much to keep their emotions in check, you know! Do you understand what I mean? I'm now pregnant with the 2nd and you do get more relaxed about it when I look at myself. With the first, I had everything new and now I've got a few things from MP.

    Hey Hoi Anna,
    I totally get it too..
But I was someone who never really cared about fashion
ever, or only when I felt like it, meaning a few years
    later, or not at all..

I understand the emotional side too..
But anyway, that's why I already mentioned it has to do with my outlook on life....

    Hey Anoniem,
That's exactly how I'm thinking about it hahaha...
My mom is getting the new Ikea store soon.
And we've already picked out some dumpstores we're going to visit..
Only now we're dragging my boyfriend along mwhuahahahah
That's going to be quite the adventure on the positive side though!!
So far he's nicely read all the info and taken it in, and even corrected me
with the notices >"you're not allowed to do that at all "<

But I've already come up with some ideas and also for the price range I'm looking for
yeah I can work with that... Luckily I'm (can be) quite creative.
And I also like making used items/furniture my own again...

So, pretty soon we'll visit Ikea (it's a bit of a drive from here but whatever)
Scouring second-hand shops, we have markets here every week now because of
the holidays (always handy).. And of course the dump stores

And comparing prices online really helps too. I really wanted everything brand new for my first baby, but I did go for the deals!

Stroller complete with Maxi-Cosie, travel cot, seat for buggy, footmuff, umbrella, air tires, rain cover etc. €429.

Nursery complete: changing table, crib, wardrobe, wall shelf, mattress, thermal bath and bath stand.
    €830.

So I think it's not too bad.

    What a bargain, right? :-)
We never paid full price for that either. For the first one, we scored a really nice second-hand set for just 100 euros in total, and for the second, we went to IKEA.

They won’t remember what kind of furniture they had anyway We did make it cozy with photos and posters and lots of love :-)

Indeed, it's a matter of what you want to make available yourself.
In terms of finances, of course.

I love making little things myself, etc.
And I have to say I'm already really enjoying sniffing around and searching for things
    all together

Tomorrow I'll see what I find on the market

    @Ivy B,
We're doing a mix of old and new stuff.. We got the crib and stroller via MP and the baby room is new.. We also got some items from friends for a song and some baby clothes.. But we're also buying new baby clothes so it's a mix of old and new..

Hope you find what you're looking for, on the market there a penny saved is a penny earned :-)

    Love Ju

    Back from the market...
Never came home so empty-handed hahaha..

Nothing fun, interesting, funny or whatever you could come up with ideas for.
But I did see plenty of strollers with stuff in them and ladies with nice round bellies.

And now.... I'm at home boring myself but honestly holding back.
Not to go get paint and start on the room right away

I did buy a sketchbook and pencils..
So I can draw something on paper and then 'stick' it on the walls.

    @Ivy B.
Wibra and Zeeman are great options, Hema is too expensive. I had four items and Wibra offers a solution for 5 euros, a super duvet cover..
So first go to Wibra and Zeeman, then to Hema. There are some things at Hema, but only a few.. You just have to know it all..

Well, I still remember when we went shopping for a baby monitor at a baby specialty store. They were lined up on a shelf ranging from cheap to expensive. We were standing all the way on the left side (cheap), and there was another couple looking at the far right side. In the end, we went home with the cheapest one, and it served both our daughter and our son excellently.

The nursery furniture we bought back then was new, but it was a display model. That saved quite a bit too! We did buy everything else new back then though.

Now, with our third child, and more than 10 years after our oldest, we did things differently. Actually, a bit like Ju, partly second-hand and partly new. Through Marktplaats, we bought a nursery set (excluding the wardrobe, by the way, but given the model of the dresser included, it's hardly a disaster), a travel system, bath set, crib, high chair, hobby horse, and various linens for €250. And everything looks neat!

Through various contacts, we received a set of cotton diapers, some Nijntje toys, and a Maxi-Cosi that was only 4 years old.

Over the past few weeks, I've bought a lot of clothes during the clearance sales at Wibra and Zeeman for our littlest girl. You'd laugh your head off: crop tops and leggings for €1 and super nice dresses for €2 each! By the way, today I even bought a cute thin pair of jeans in size 62 at Zeeman, where there's 50% off the clearance price since yesterday. Based on that, the jeans should have cost €1.50, but at the checkout, they were even (don't be shocked!!!!) €0.75!

Well, if you sell them again via Marktplaats once your little one has outgrown them, the costs balance out anyway. By the way, we did treat ourselves to a bit of luxury when it came to the baby monitor: we bought one with a small color screen so we can see into the room from the living room later. The cost of that wasn't bad either: there was an Alexo baby monitor on sale at Kruidvat for €79.

Anyway, I agree with Ju: first go to Wibra and Zeeman, then to HEMA.

    Best, Gerda

Hahaha amazing, right, those prices! I'm pregnant with baby #2 now, but for my daughter I also got everything from Zeeman and Wibra, for clothes and bedding! You know, especially with clothes: a baby probably wears them for 3 weeks and then they're outgrown! Whahaaa!
Got the baby room from a second-hand shop, got the crib later for free through connections... Super beautiful thing! Mattress from IKEA... Well, how cheap do you want to make it yourself!
  12. gerda #13

What else can be fun is buying on eBay.
People sometimes offer new or almost new clothes for a price of €1.
However, you do have to take shipping costs into account, so it's usually better to buy multiple items from one seller.
And well...you do need a bit of luck.

My mother-in-law and I went to the Multitoon thrift store in Harderwijk the day before yesterday.
If you live nearby: it's worth it! They have a department where they upcycle used furniture, turning them into prince or princess chairs with names, and they make garlands out of fabric letters. Really super fun.

So if you live nearby.................. go check it out!

    Wibra + Zeeman CHECK > It's just a 2-minute walk from here.
I have to restrain myself from shopping there. hahaha

At Babypark I saw a crib and a bassinet for a total of 120 euros.
Though they were new, of course..

Soon my mom, my partner, and I are going to the Babydump in Zwinderen. (Drenthe)

I have to be honest, I'm finding it hard when it comes to strollers.
So many choices, but the prices are truly unbelievable...!

I did see one at Babypark by Koelstra though.
But I hope to find something similar but cheaper..

I'm also planning to look on MP.
And maybe buy it through a friend who has an account there.

I'll just wait for the ultrasound on Aug 14 first.
I find it quite difficult that it's taking so long, while I already have everything figured out in my head.
And ready to go. Including the house renovation

We were also really shocked by the extremely high prices!
Until someone gave us the tip to check out a thrift store, and off we went. And what a surprise, there was just a nearly new stroller with rain cover and mosquito net, a beautiful crib, and a great changing table. We only spent €55 for all three.
Of course, we bought a new good mattress for the crib. I think I'll be hitting up the thrift store more often!

    Good morning,

The prices are absolutely terrible, it's really out of control.
And of course, if it's your first, you naturally want something that suits your taste and is new.
We felt the same way. I'm now pregnant with baby #4, luckily we still had the nursery from our youngest. But we had wallpapered it, put the furniture in place, and at first I wasn't thrilled. But I think that was the hormones talking. In the end, I bought some new, affordable little things, like a new crib sheet and a bassinet sheet, storage boxes via MP, and some nice accessories from the Action. Once everything was set up, I slowly fell in love with it. I also frequent the thrift stores and MP, and I still enjoy it. We just haven't managed to find a stroller yet. But that'll work out too. Just keep browsing online and at the thrift stores, and everything will come together. You know what it is, little ones grow so fast, especially with clothes. You can buy the whole closet full, but they can't wear half of it. So stock up at Zeeman, Wibra, or H&M. After all, you're just robbing yourself blind.

    Have a nice day everyone,
    Love, Renate74

    Yes, everything is incredibly expensive.
Well, we did get all that. But I also have a lot of stuff from my younger sister and brother. I also got almost all the baby clothes from my cousins who already grew out of theirs, which is also a good solution.
I’ve bought a few clothes myself, and they’re all from Zeeman or Wibra—I think they’re just as nice as those expensive stores! I only have 1-3 outfits that are a bit more expensive, but those are for Sundays or parties. Otherwise, just cheap stuff because they outgrow them so quickly.
    Love,
