Am I pregnant after all?

Hi everyone,

I stopped the pill in May this year. My periods have been like this since then: first one was 50 days, then 43, then 35. There's a pattern, each time exactly a week shorter, so you'd think the next one would be 28 days. That should have been Oct 19th;-).

But I still haven't gotten my period. Since the week of Oct 19th I've had a strong feeling that I'm pregnant. Mood swings, very tired, and gurgly bowels. So last Monday I took a test (CB Digital). Not pregnant. I was like, no way, that can't be. I had an old clearview test lying around, after 5 minutes almost no line, but if you hold it in the light it's super faint. So I thought, my gut feeling is wrong and my cycle will just stick to the 35 days again. But now I still haven't gotten my period... it should have been last Tuesday. So is it true after all? Or can a cycle suddenly become longer again? I barely dare to take another test haha. Since Tuesday I've had sore nipples, stomach discomfort, and sore legs. I do get this too when my period is due, but this feels different.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this;-) Thanks in advance!!

I don't really have experience with it myself... but I'd say take another test? Then you'll be sure

It could also be that your cycle was a bit shorter than 35 days, but not as short as 28. So just take another test.

Did a test anyway. Unfortunately, negative. But something inside me says that doesn't make sense. What should I do? Aargh haha

If you don't get your period, test again in a week.

Just ask your doctor if you can get a blood test. They can see from your blood whether you recently ovulated, and I’d ask them to check if you’re pregnant right away since they can tell from your blood too. That way you’ll know right away instead of being uncertain—maybe you didn’t ovulate at all or your hCG levels are low.
Still not having your period or have a positive test in hand?

Thanks for your reply! I’m now a week overdue. Still no period. Tender breasts have gone away, but I do have visible veins on my chest and neck. Otherwise, I don’t feel much different. Just tired. Took another test last Sunday, which was negative. No idea anymore. Maybe I should indeed get a blood test. Can it be that hcg really starts later? And I have almost no symptoms. But also no period symptoms.

I’ve also had my blood drawn today. I’m 3 days late, and the pregnancy test is negative, so I know how frustrating that is. You just want to know: am I pregnant, yes or no?
But it’s definitely possible. A friend of mine missed her period on the expected date, tested right away, and got a negative result. Later that week, she took several more tests, all negative, and still hadn’t gotten her period. Then, about a week and a half after her expected date, she finally got a positive result! So it’s definitely possible. She’s already due in 7 weeks!
She was pregnant before (it ended at 9 weeks), and she had exactly the same experience: she only got a positive test a week and a half after her expected period.
So it’s possible that you’re producing low levels of hCG.
    Have you tested again?
If I were you, I’d call the doctor tomorrow and ask for a blood test. Otherwise, they’ll probably say, “Wait a bit longer.”
Why keep sitting in uncertainty when you can find out so easily? I get my results within a day.
Hope my reply helps. Good luck!

And anyway, when she tested after a week, the line was very faint, so it can definitely be!!

Thanks for your reply, Klaravs. Unfortunately, I got my period this morning.. a week later. I don't understand it at all. But well, nothing I can do about it! Let me know what your result is? Good luck! 0

Oh that's a shame! But I'd rather get my period than keep being in the dark, right? Tennis? I mean.
Well, I got a call from the gynecologist this morning with the blood test results..
But unfortunately, I wasn't pregnant. My testosterone was very high, so it turns out my egg only released about a week ago.. So she advised me to wait another 10 days to see if I get my period or not and then test again..
But the weird thing is I always feel it happening now, so not really. But hey, I'm glad I know where I stand! Because I was actually 4 days late anyway.
So you see, your egg doesn't always release on the expected days..
For you, on to the next round... Good luck

Same here, 1 day overdue and a negative test. 5 days later still no period so another negative test today, 7 days overdue. Although this morning a very faint line appeared on the test that was only visible in the light and appeared after 2 minutes instead of 1 minute as stated in the leaflet, so I don't fully trust it. So I went to have blood drawn this morning and will know the result later. The doctor told me it's really possible that you only produce enough hCG late for a positive test. So fingers crossed it's positive.

5 days overdue, did a blood test .. not pregnant...
but they did see that my egg had just ruptured recently..
so I was supposed to wait, but I had sore breasts, so I thought I'd just test anyway. This was 5 days after the negative blood result. Now what do you think? PREGNANT!!!
I couldn't believe it. I tested with an Action test, then with a Clearblue, which immediately showed 1-2 weeks.
so if you have a negative blood test and haven't gotten your period yet, I'd still test after a few days. Good luck!

No need to test anymore, because yes, the blood test clearly shows PREGNANT My happiness couldn't be any higher. We've been looking forward to this for so long. The doctor said my hcg level was 18, and most sticks only measure from 25, which is why they were always negative
