nursery/baby checklist

Hi!

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and we're going to France for 10 days next week. We'll be back at the end of August, and my due date is November 28th. It's just in our family that most babies are born a few weeks early! We haven't prepared much yet regarding what we need for the house and the nursery. Yesterday we suddenly realized, oh, my mom is coming this weekend, then we're going on vacation, we'll be back, and before we know it, it's already September!! Are we too late if we buy everything in September? When do you start preparing? I'm starting to get a bit stressed now. ...

    Hi Anoniempje,
I'm a huge stress case and have to tell you that I've already ordered the crib, which will be delivered in two weeks. I've also ordered the stroller, arranged for maternity care, sorted out childcare, and now I'm slowly putting together the rest of the setup.
I don't know if this helps you, but I think it's a bit late!

    Sorry, love, Kim

    Hi Anoniempje,
In the first few weeks, you don’t really need much in the baby’s room since the baby is still too small to do much anyway :-)

Make sure you have a crib and enough clothes, bedding, towels, thermometer, bath, etc. You can always decorate the room later.

It’s important to paint everything well in advance because it needs time to fully cure, and the paint fumes aren’t good for your baby (or for you).

    @Anoniempje,
I completely agree with Kim and Sietske....

Crib for the first 3 months, then a toddler bed (not necessary)
    - Dressing table and changing pad
    - Mattress and mattress protector
    - Baby sleeping bag
    - Blankets
    - Fitted sheets
    - Bottle warmer
    - Lighting
    - Wardrobe

    Safety
    - Baby monitor
    - Door stopper
    - Socket covers

This is what you need.. We're going to order our nursery next week and my due date is about the same as yours.. To be precise, Nov 24th.. I wouldn't want to be busy with all that at such a late stage.. Think about delivery times.. Will the items I want be available in time..
You're currently in the sales period.. By the time you're back, everything will be at least 20 times as expensive

Just see what you do, but if I were you, I wouldn't take the risk..

    Best, Ju
P.S.. Have a nice holiday anyway

Hi ladies, thanks for the tips!!! It's a huge relief that we don't have to repaint the nursery! So the paint fumes are luckily avoided. We already have a crib/bed at home, so if I read this right, it's just a shopping day and we'll be all set. We also already have a dresser... I can buy the baby monitor and thermometer around the corner, so I'll do that this week! Thanks ladies!

PS do you know where I can find a good preparation/checklist?
