Sophie of Liva

This is of course my personal opinion, but I prefer timeless names like Sophie. Liva is gaining popularity quickly, so maybe it'll be just as common soon. I find Liva a bit artificial myself. And I think names like Liva and Nova and so on will sound old-fashioned in a few decades, just like Jolanda and Jacqueline do now.

I can share my opinion, but it’s really about you and your husband.
All the arguments (including Anna’s) make sense, but it’s also about personal taste. If your husband doesn’t find Liva beautiful, maybe it’s best to just stop there?
Or you could look for another name that meets all your wishes, but I think that’s pretty tough too.

    Thanks, Anna.
I'm a bit hesitant about Sophie because the name is so popular. But on the other hand, I'm also afraid I'll regret not naming our girl Sophie.

I find Sophie a boring name. Always found it. Liva sounds nice and sweet.

Yeah, I totally get why you'd hesitate about such a popular name—I’d probably do the same. But on the other hand, only 0.4% of kids were named Sophie in 2015, which means about 1 in 250. So, on average, there’s just one Sophie per nine school classes. (And I’m not even counting Sofies and Sophias.) Haha, I love stats and stuff like that . Maybe that puts your mind at ease? I do think it matters with popular names whether the last name is common or rare. If you’re Sophie de Vries, for example, you’re basically impossible to find online. But if you have a more unique last name, you’re still a one-of-a-kind Sophie.

That's true, Anna. We do have a very Dutch last name though.
My husband suddenly said the other day that he needed to get used to Liva, but now he likes Liva more than Sophie.
    I keep doubting hahaha.
Also because we want it to match the boy's name.
Liva fits better with the boy's name than Sophie.
Although I do think Liva and Sophie sound nice as sisters.

It's probably the hormones that make me keep doubting. Normally I'm not such a wishy-washy person.

I think Liva is more beautiful and Sophie is classic.
