Of course, I hope my values have risen by the end of the week.
But I dare not hope too much to avoid a bigger disappointment.
Bien 84 : that's so silly for you. Hopefully, you'll have a new positive test soon!
My hcg levels have risen from 26 (on Monday) to 250 (today). The GP said this is going in the right direction, but she doesn't think it's an overly high value yet.
She recommends having an ultrasound done on Monday, but there's a chance they won't see enough then either. So this actually makes me feel quite uncertain.
I thought the rise was what mattered most?
I actually think this is a beautiful value? Doubling every 24 hours: Tuesday = 26x2=52. Wednesday 52x2=103 Thursday 103x2=206. Friday 206x2=412.
You indeed don't have 412, but you're between the value of Thursday and Friday. If you calculate it like this? Every body is different.
I think it's fine!
Yes, it's indeed about the rise, and I thought it should double every 2 to 3 days, so good rise! If nothing is visible on your ultrasound yet, that's normal too.. my hcg was 685 and they only saw a thickened uterine wall and a small black cavity.. A week later almost 10,000 and they did see a beginning embryo.. exciting but definitely positive news if you ask me!!
Nura: that's why I actually find the ultrasound a bit confusing. The GP said that if they don't see anything yet, it's not necessarily a bad sign, but if they do see something, we'll know for sure. I just don't want to become more anxious if they don't see anything.
Thank you all!
It’s nice to finally be able to let my heart out.
It’s indeed a bit of a letdown. I just called the hospital to schedule an ultrasound appointment for Monday. They said: “Strange that your GP referred you because we usually don’t see much on those ultrasounds. But come along anyway and make sure you have a full bladder.”
Had an ultrasound, nothing to see. That imaging doctor immediately said it'll be a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.
But can they just say that now? Could it just as well be that my conception was later in my cycle and there was nothing to see yet?
My hcg rose nicely on Friday and now such a statement. I'm not doing well at the moment.
Given what they told you when making the appointment, I'd say an ultrasound was just done too early and there's nothing to see yet. With an ectopic pregnancy, you'd have to experience increasingly severe abdominal pain because a fallopian tube isn't designed to stretch, so I think you'd definitely notice that. Plus, I assume that if they suspected an ectopic pregnancy, they'd take action to prevent any damage to you. With my first, I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, which was quite early; there was just a beating heart then, and that was all you could see, about 4mm big. With the second, I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks, which was much clearer. I'd just ask for an ultrasound around the time you should be between 6 and 8 weeks; then you'll probably see your little one for sure.
With our 2nd, they also told us things had gone wrong. And look at them now, sitting here, a handsome daughter of almost 8 years. Looking back, I also think I just conceived later. Which also led to low hCG levels, and nothing visible on the ultrasound. Because the rest of the pregnancy went 'happily' well.
So thumbs up, everything will turn out fine.
Meanwhile, I got the GP on the phone.
She says she received the ultrasound report and that I should assume it's an early miscarriage.
I find this really painful. I don't even dare to hope anymore that it's a late conception.
Now I have to go back later this week to have blood drawn. Sigh.
Do you have to go back next week for the ultrasound or not? I find that quite a definitive statement... I'm a doctor myself and would never say something with 100% certainty... My OB-GYN told me I saw nothing, and a week later there was something... She gave me a 50% chance. I'd definitely go back for another ultrasound next week anyway!
Ugh, what a mess, now you don't know anything... I wouldn't hope for anything anymore.. I'm also just past my due date and no positive test either, I have exactly the same symptoms as you. But well, now we just have to wait again.. I wish you lots of success & hopefully everything will be okay
Nura: No, you don't need to come back for the ultrasound anymore. The GP said it'll likely be a miscarriage, so come back on Friday and then we'll do a blood test; your levels will have dropped by then.
I'm thinking of going to my husband's GP on Wednesday to ask for her opinion.
The waiting is pretty tough.
Plus, I have to stop working immediately during pregnancy (risk of toxoplasmosis and aggression), and I keep swinging between going to work or telling someone already...
