man, not home much

Hi there!

A while ago, my partner and I decided to go for our first baby.

The IUD has been out for a while now, and of course, we want it to happen as quickly as possible. The "issue" (if you can call it that) is that my partner is an international truck driver.

Because of this, he's only home on weekends. Is it impossible for people here to have sex only every two days? And what are your experiences with trying to get pregnant quickly?

    Hi Sochra,

I'd just make use of the moments when he's around; there's nothing else you can do anyway. I wasn't focused on it with my son either, and we had sex whenever we felt like it, getting pregnant almost immediately—it took maybe 2 months.

    Love

Sochra, this is so relatable! I have exactly the same problem here. My husband is also an international truck driver and is only home on weekends, and very rarely just for one night during the week!

In the meantime, I've already done 17 cycles and have been pregnant a few times, but it didn't work out!

I've found more peace of mind by using ovulation tests so I know a bit when I can expect my egg to be released, and that way he could make sure he was home at that time a few times, so he asked for a day off because, well, you have to do something, right?

But that party doesn't happen every month, so I'm always happy if my egg is released on the weekends!

So it does make it a bit harder to get pregnant "quickly," but it's never impossible!

Especially enjoy as much as possible when he is home!

Yeah, that's pretty much how we're doing it too. We haven't planned our leave yet because it was supposed to start in May or so, according to my due date. But yesterday he happened to be able to come home (today I'm expecting my little one), so I was super happy. I'm having a hard time not hoping too hard right now. I know there's only about a 20% chance, but I keep thinking, "Yeah, it'll happen now." I hope I don't disappoint myself.

Well, after 13 months, still nothing, and we're starting these rounds of tests with the OB-GYN. Pff, so exciting!

Hi Sochra, what a shame it hasn't worked out for you yet! Good luck with the tests, that's always so stressful! And hopefully it'll work out soon
I'm starting to give up a bit here and it's getting harder to stay positive with the round of treatments unfortunately
It's gone wrong so many times now, we also went to the gynecologist a few times after the miscarriage of twins, but after much discussion we decided that further steps aren't an option for us.
I wish you all the best and of course a quick beautiful positive test
