Trying to conceive makes me feel insecure.

Hi everyone.

I'd like to start a new topic.

We've been trying to get pregnant since December. Unfortunately, no result yet, and every month there's a bit of disappointment. I see and hear so many couples around me who get pregnant after just one month. It feels so unfair that it's not always granted to everyone. Do any of you relate to this?

I'm also wondering whether I should go to the doctor. Do you think it's too early?

And for those who don't have it as extreme, how do you stay positive?

    Hey Ellie,

I may not have been at it for long, but I totally get how you feel, girl.. I hear from everyone around me that it just happened right away.. It makes me so insecure!.. I'm so scared that it's going to take a long time and I don't think I can handle that..

Yes, I genuinely wish this for everyone. It’s really nice to see in my circle that everyone is getting a little one. But I also hear a lot of stories from people around me who can’t conceive or have been trying for years without success.

I know it’s about letting go, but after all these months, I’m feeling more and more unsure.

My partner has taken it a bit easier and just says, “It’ll happen when it happens.” But I know we timed it perfectly, and unfortunately, no positive test yet. I’m due for my period tomorrow. I’m afraid to hope for anything anymore...

How long have you been trying, Nola? And do you have an idea of your fertile days?

Yes indeed... I wish the same for everyone who's pregnant.. it's really nice, yes! But sometimes it can be confronting.. I've been trying for a baby since July.. and stopped the pill at the end of January.. so I could start unpill-ing early.. I have no idea when my egg is, but we're having sex very regularly.... every other day or sometimes more often...

So I'm always on the right track, I hope...
It's nice that your friend is so positive about it.. mine is too, luckily!

    Hi Ellie and Nola,
I was pregnant on my first try with my daughter, and for my current pregnancy, we had to try for over a year!!
I completely understand you, you wish it for everyone but you also want it so much yourself!
After a while, it controls your whole life and sex becomes "because it has to be".
If I may give advice based on my own experience: if you're sure you're timing it right and after a few months you're still not pregnant, don't just sit back and do nothing!!!!
After 6 months, I went to the gynecologist and she said everything was normal and it was just taking longer.
After trying for 1 year and another miscarriage, I sought help outside of Western medicine.
I started with weekly fertility acupuncture. I got very clear answers as to why I wasn't getting pregnant and why it ended in a miscarriage. And guess what, I was pregnant that same month!!!!
I'm now 8 weeks and still follow my weekly sessions until 12 weeks.
I'm not saying acupuncture is a miracle cure, but I'm convinced that without it, I still wouldn't have been pregnant!

And not everyone will benefit from acupuncture, because the cause could be somewhere else... But keep looking because doing nothing just wastes more time and energy!!

Lots of love and good luck!

    Hi,

I have the same feeling. Had the IUD removed in June. It's indeed a disappointment every time you get your period. Try not to focus on it too much, but with every headache, cramp, and nausea, I think/hope that I might be pregnant.

    Hi!
I have exactly the same experience. I stopped the pill in November, and by March my hormones had fully left my system because I was a week late. Since then, I've had a regular cycle again. But so far, I'm still not pregnant, and I'm starting to feel really unsure whether it's going to work out or not. My husband is a bit less anxious about it—he keeps saying it'll happen naturally and that we should just wait and see, but for me, it's starting to feel like a "must-do." I'm still enjoying the process, but I really want to see some results soon.

Same feeling here. Stopped the pill in February, really trying from June, but nothing yet.
Every cycle has symptoms that turn out to be nothing again.
    Pretty stressful.

Hey ladies, I know that feeling. It took me 1.5 years before I got pregnant. I hope you guys get pregnant soon. After a year, I went to the GP, had all the tests done. That was quite reassuring. I can get pregnant, instead of thinking there's something wrong with you.

    Hi Ellie,
I completely understand how you feel! It always gives me courage to talk about it here and to realize that you're definitely not alone. I stopped the pill myself 1.5 years ago + 1 month. It does make you feel insecure, I try not to focus on it too much, which works better some days than others. As for the GP, I'd definitely do that. I stopped in April last year and went to the gynecologist in September, nothing wrong with that. I think it's better to go too early than too late. This came especially because I had a very long cycle. But I'd still check with your GP what they have to say, maybe they'll refer you to the gynecologist right away.
    Wishing you lots of success!!
    Love x
