checking ovulation on ultrasound

Hello,

do you guys know this?
Is it true that the gynecologist can check via an internal ultrasound whether ovulation has taken place or not?
If yes, what do they base it on? On 05/01 I was told that I had PCOS, cysts on my ovaries and that I hadn't ovulated yet. Blood was drawn (not tested for pregnancy)
On 22/02 I went back for a check-up and it turned out I was already 8 weeks pregnant.
Could it be that this was misinterpreted by the midwife?

Or did I get pregnant after that?
Would a pregnancy have been visible already?

With my previous pregnancy, I had a (routine) scan right after my ovulation. With the internal ultrasound, she could indeed see that my egg had developed along the left fallopian tube. The tube was a bit "open" and slightly "damaged"; the egg was fertilized at that time, but she couldn't see that on that ultrasound.

With my current pregnancy, I had an ultrasound at 5 and 7 weeks, and on both scans, it was still visible along which fallopian tube the ovulation had occurred.

Hopefully, this explains a bit for you!! Good luck!
