Recognizing MS - ovulation test started

Ladies,

For a few months now I’ve been unable to track my cycle.
Around the time I should get my period, I either get a (few) day(s) before or later than 'planned' spotting but not heavy enough to call it a period (no clots, a pantyliner is enough, no cramps,...) This lasts on average a week and then I suddenly have 3-4 days of heavy bleeding, including the necessary cramps and nausea.

So I no longer know how to count my cycle... So I went to get some OPK tests, did the first one today.

Last cycle (I think):
June 5 last day of the second-to-last period
June 24 spotting started, on June 28 nothing for a day, then more spotting until June 30
Then from July 1 to July 4 period with clots, cramps... everything on and off
July 5 a little more bleeding

Which day do I take as the start for my upcoming cycle?

I have an app on my phone that says my fertile period starts on July 15 with the peak day on July 20.
Did the first ovulation test today and it says I already have a fertile day (but how many more are there or have we already missed them?)

Did the 2nd test this morning, but an hour later than yesterday, and today it showed a blank O instead of a smiley. (digital test)

Could this be because I tested an hour later than yesterday? (It says not to pee 4 hours before, which is tough for me at night... I always have to get up at least once, and the timing varies.)
Or are my fertile days already over?

No one has experience with these tests?

This month, I'm on my second round with the ClearBlue ovulation tests.
Yesterday I got a and today it's already negative again. According to the leaflet, the test should indicate the 2 most fertile days. For me, it's been showing just 1 day for 2 months in a row now.

Okay, I don't test every day at the same time, I just can't manage that.
I test in the morning but I always have to go to the toilet at least once during the night, and this is always at a different time. I also start work at different times in the morning, so I have to make sure I can leave on time, which means I've tested as early as 5am or at 8am or 8.30am...
Does this really make such a big difference?

You can also easily miss him unfortunately.
I don't have experience with this brand, but I do with other brands. That you even found a smily is super, right! Make it cozy around that day and before/after, girl!

The first day of your intense MS is your first CD day.

We did have a nice time yesterday, but the day before is tricky since you don't know which day it is
