Which name to choose??

Here I am again! I just created a new thread since my partner and I have found some new names that we both really like and can actually picture our little girl having. Now we just need to choose, so I’m asking for your advice.

By the way, we thought Emilie was really beautiful, but a friend of mine just gave birth and her daughter is named Emily. The pronunciation doesn’t seem that different, but we still feel better about another name. We’ve also decided that our little one will have four names (we’re going for a chic vibe ). Explanation follows below.

The options:
Luce Sofie Phileine Kee
Hazel Sofie Phileine Kee
Malin Sofie Phileine Kee Or
Vieve Phileine Sofie Kee

So the first four names would be the call names. Sofie comes from my grandma. Phileine is a tribute to Niels (my son’s third name is Hein) and my friend Josefien, who sadly passed away two years ago. Kee is a tribute to June, Summer, and Guus. Guus’s third name is Kees. Additionally, we looked for another name ending in ee or ae as a tribute to the girls. I hope you can still follow along

With the Vieve option, we swapped some names around because we think it sounds nicer.

What would your preference be? Opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance!

How do you pronounce Luce and Hazel?

Luce: pronounced as Luus or Loes or something else? If Luus, I think it's a beautiful name (I would then write it as Luus). If Loes, also nice (I would write it as Loes)
Hazel: English or Dutch pronunciation? Personally, I prefer the Dutch one.
Malin: sounds a bit weird to me, but that's because I know a Marin and no people named Malin. (It sounds to me like a baby who can't say r and thus says l instead. But that's because I only know a Marin.) But Malin looks nice and I could totally get used to it if a friend named their child that.
Vieve: I don't like it, but yeah, it's just not my style. Otherwise, it's a normal name and so on, and only has one positive rhyme (Lieve Vieve )

I think the baptismal names are beautiful with such a story behind them! You should keep those baptismal names!

Is Mirrin not a nice name??
And then put the stress on rin....
I was having a boy but wanted a girl
The name Yanou Minelly Josephine...( after both grandmas )
    I'm sooo into it...
Now we're having a little boy and we'll just take 1 name.....I find the grandpa names so old-fashioned... Hihie Let's not baptize him either.....

I find your names special with the story behind them... Maybe you should shuffle the order a bit... So that it sounds nice when you hear it..

Here’s a vote for Hazel, I think it’s a beautiful name too! (Pronounced in English, of course).
Personally, I don’t find Malin and Vieve as lovely.

    Good luck!

I'm really curious how Luce is pronounced: as Luus or as Loes? I think the name is very beautiful anyway. But if I were you, I'd change the order of the baptismal names a bit. Otherwise, you'll have two 's' sounds back-to-back and then two 'fie' sounds. Then Luce Phileine Sofie Kee, for example, would sound nicer.

I think Hazel sounds beautiful both in Dutch and in English.
Malin sounds tough and unique. You don't hear it very often, and that makes it nice!
I think Vieve is a good name, not very special, but not weird or ugly either.

I think those baptismal names are very beautiful. That also gives the names emotional value! Maybe you could change the order a bit, because now you have two 'fie' sounds back-to-back.

Hazel in English. Unusual. Nice that it's not very common.

What lovely responses! When we first saw the name Luce, we thought it would just be pronounced Luu-ze. But now that you're all asking whether it's Loes or Luus, we think we might have made a little mistake. So now it's Luus. Or Luu-ze. We're still not entirely sure. Hazel is pronounced in the English way, so Hee-zel. @Wish: Mirrin is indeed also beautiful. We need to get used to it a bit more, but it might actually be a prettier name than Malin. We're still thinking about the baptismal names. Thanks for bringing it up; we hadn't really noticed the fie fie yet. Thank you all!

Hi! Sorry to bring it up again but we still haven't figured it out. Malin has been ruled out, and we're tossing around some baptismal names. It's looking like Phileine Sofie Kee for now. But we're still undecided on the first name, so opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I personally think Hazel is the most beautiful name!

I find the background of your baptismal names lovely...
But I also have 4 names and find that it's anything but practical: For example, they always have to give me a special procedure for my ID card because my names can't be registered digitally (too long). And when I travel, it's always a hassle with the tickets. And honestly, you don't really benefit from them because most of my friends don't even know my full name
Or do you choose not to register the names?
  10. zomaar Guest #11

Leonie, if you haven't done it yet: say the first names out loud in all sorts of sentences. Then you'll naturally feel which name is the right one.
I think Hazel is a beautiful name. More beautiful on paper than when spoken, though. And personally, I find Dutch sounds nicer than English with this name.

    Beautiful names!
I’d go for Luce! (Pronounced Luus)

    Chic, tough, and sweet.
  13. Emily Guest #14

I'm really curious if you've already decided!!
  14. Ann Guest #15

My daughter is named Malin, she's 10 years old and I'm still in love with the name. I get so many reactions on how nice it sounds.
  15. Liha Guest #16

I think Vieve is the most beautiful. And also the easiest to pronounce; I have a moment's doubt about the other names.
  16. peetje42 #17

Do you already have kids? Or is this the first one?
I think Hazel is really nice! Only I think a lot of people will pronounce it in a Dutch way when they see it.
I also like Luce as Luus/luuze, but then I would write it like that, I think..
I also liked Malin! Haha, Mirrin is nice too!
    Vieve is not my style..

Luce with the pronunciation "Luus" I find still pleasantly surprising now that I've read it a few times.
