Change the litter box?

Hi ladies,

We have 2 cats, but now I'm hearing everywhere that pregnant women shouldn't really clean the litter box... My boyfriend thinks it's super gross and would rather I get rid of them.

For those of you who have cats, how do you handle this? Do you still clean the box yourself, e.g., by wearing gloves? I don't want to get rid of them, but when I'm changing the litter, I'm practically gagging now that everything smells stronger. Unfortunately, they can't go outside because we live in an apartment.

definitely wear gloves, but it's better to have someone else do it. You're at risk of getting toxoplasmosis, which is harmful to your baby.

I changed the litter box during my pregnancy. I dumped all the used litter into a trash bag and then put in fresh litter. I didn’t come into contact with the used litter.

I'll handle this by using a face mask and gloves lots of luck

I come into contact with cats and sometimes even feces at work every day. I work in a vet clinic. I haven't had any problems with it. Just make sure to keep good hygiene, wear gloves, and maybe a mask if needed.

I have 2 healthy daughters, aged 2 years and 4 weeks.
