Pregnant right after a miscarriage, anyone have experience with that?

Good afternoon,

I'm Saar, 34 years old, and in March I was happily pregnant. Unfortunately, on April 19th we found out that the baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks. I took pills that day and the next to help the pregnancy pass. It worked, and on May 5th the hospital said that almost everything was gone except for a very small edge, but that would go away with the next period. They already saw a cycle coming and said I could expect my period in 2 weeks. When I asked if I could have sex, the answer was yes, it couldn't hurt, but to be safe, use a condom. Unfortunately, the condom broke twice, and what was my surprise... Last Friday I had a positive test...

I have absolutely no symptoms, so I don't dare to believe that I'm really pregnant.

Has anyone experienced this? And how did it turn out?

Love, Saar

    Hi Saar,

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage, and congratulations on your new pregnancy!

I had a miscarriage in early October last year at 6.5 weeks (spontaneous, so no medication needed). By the ultrasound, my uterus was already completely empty and clear, ready for the next cycle. We immediately, consciously, started trying again for a baby (the OB didn't require us to wait either), and I tested positive 5 weeks later! When I called the midwife for this 2nd pregnancy, she asked me if I was sure it was a new pregnancy. HCG can stay in your body for a while... I tested after my miscarriage until it was negative, so I was sure that a positive test meant a new pregnancy

Meanwhile, I'm already almost 34 weeks pregnant!

Hopefully everything goes well this time, and I wish you a smooth pregnancy!

    Thank you so much, Suuske!

I spoke with the hospital today. In two weeks, I’ll have an ultrasound to see if there’s anything in my uterus.

It’s all so exciting again, pff.

    Best,

    Sara
