What can I do?

Hi. I'm Joyce. I'm 19 and have been with my boyfriend for 2.5 years. I'm scared I might be pregnant, though I wouldn't mind it too much if things were better financially. We live together and have sex regularly, of course. I'm on the pill and really never forget to take it. But I've had terrible diarrhea for the past few weeks. I think it's just a stomach bug. I already took a test from Kruidvat... the cheap one. It was negative. I don't have money for a new test right now, so that's not an option. I'm almost a week late now. What should I do??

Thanks in advance.

You can have your GP draw some blood. Or buy pregnancy tests at Action. I think there are 2 for €2.50. Super cheap. If you don't have €2.50 for a test, I'd think twice about how you're going to manage with a child... maybe you should've thought twice and used a condom for peace of mind. Antibiotic use, diarrhea, or vomiting can reduce the effectiveness of the pill. Keep that in mind.

You can just grab a test at the drugstore. It's just as reliable as a GP result because the outcome is determined the same way. You don't need to go to the GP for that. What Lilly says about money is nonsense and not your problem. The action tests work fine. If the result is positive, then you'll deal with that further. If it's negative, then it's probably not the case.
