How do you pronounce it, and do you think it's a girl's name or a boy's name?

    I also immediately thought of a horse's mane.

    As a boy's name, I can't really picture it at all.

    Thanks! I'm totally in love with the name, but my husband needs a bit more confirmation. Is Maane maybe more elegant for a girl?

    With 1 a! Otherwise, you'll always have to spell it out. Beautiful name for a girl.

    Maane sounds more like a cut-off Manon to me. With an 'a' added, it suddenly has a completely different sound. I'd stick with the stress on Maanuh; it flows a bit nicer in your ears. If you really want to call it Maane, I think the spelling with 'ae' is quite nice too. Then the kid won't have to keep correcting people.
