Sira as a name?

MamaNGuest ·
Hi everyone,
We're expecting our second daughter soon, and we really like the name Sira. I've read that "the Sira" in Islam refers to the biographies of the Prophet Muhammad. Does anyone know more about this? I can't find much information on it. Is it weird for a Dutch family to name their child Sira?
Would love your advice!

Thanks!!

Nice! Sari is on our list. Looks a bit like it :-)

I didn't know there was such a book, and now I'm not Muslim either.
I think it's a beautiful name, and if people already associate it with that book, that association will quickly fade once they get to know your daughter.
    I'd just go for it!

Nice! Just like Sari and Sarai. And Shira.

Sira is nice. Someone I know has a little girl named Sirah, but with an h at the end.

Super! I think both Sira and Sari are really beautiful names!

    Sira sounds nice.

I wouldn't go with Sari because it's an Indian garment.
