Need advice on birth pool

Hi everyone,

I've got a slight problem. I really want to have a home birth in a bath.
We wanted to order a bath, but my partner suddenly started being difficult

At first, he thought the floor couldn't handle the weight. It's an old house, and all together it would weigh around 800 kg.
The bath would be downstairs in the dining room.

Then he started talking about the material of the bath, saying it would break easily.

Anyone with experience? Or can you help me in another way?

Hi Valuna, that's tough that he suddenly brought that up.
I also really wanted a water birth for my second delivery.
Unfortunately, it wasn't possible at the midwife practice at that time.
In hindsight, my whole idea couldn't be realized after all.
Because my second daughter's birth was super fast.
Sorry, no experience with that unfortunately.
Hope other women can help you
I understand your wish for a water birth.
    Good luck

Hi, can't you put an inflatable pool in your living room? I think it's not too heavy. I've seen it done by others before.. lol

    Hi Valuna,
That’s really annoying that your partner is now backing out!! Here too, the plan is to have a water birth. My partner was initially hesitant about having the tub downstairs (we just moved, new flooring) but now sees that it’s more practical than having it upstairs.

The tub I’m looking at supports 659kg + your own weight. It’s an inflatable tub, but it seems like they’re made of strong material and won’t just break easily. (Definitely not comparable to a summer inflatable pool)

What kind of subfloor do you have that’s giving him so much trouble? Hopefully, he’ll come around. I see that you’re already 36 weeks along, so time is starting to run out to arrange for the tub if needed.

    Good luck!

You've also included the weight of the rest, like a friend helping with maternity care, etc.

There's a protective mat included, but he thinks the floor might give way or something—it's an old house with wooden floors.

We want to buy one because the price difference isn't much.

That weight is included, but it's movable weight...
My friend is also worried about floor damage. (They have vinyl and you can see pressure spots very quickly.) But with wood, I'm not sure either; a floor should be able to handle some weight, right? And I assume the subfloor is concrete? Because you're placing it on the ground floor, right?
As for rent and purchase prices, there's not much difference, yeah...

If the water birth continues, I'm curious about your experience I still have to wait patiently for the birth.

The floor is wooden, not concrete in the hallway at least

    Hi @VALUNA,
Your topic question is quite old, but maybe you can help me now based on your experience? I have the same problem!
How did you eventually find a solution?
Do you have any tips for me, and what was your experience in the bath like? Would you recommend it?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
