Thymo or Kyano?

28 replies · page 1 of 2

Bianca
We already have 2 kids named: Jailey (girl) and Ryan (boy). I'm now pregnant with our second boy.

We still have these on our list: Thymo or Kyano.

I personally think Kyano is nicer, but it doesn't fit as well with the other two kids, and I find the pronunciation a bit too long. Thymo fits better with the other two. Which name do you guys like best and think suits the other two kids? I'd love to hear your thoughts

    Hi Bianca,

Choosing a name is something personal.
    I think both are beautiful.
I understand that you want to give it a nice cohesive feel so that it all matches. But isn't that just something you get used to?
You don't choose a partner based on their name either, but in the end, you always fit well together.
Do what you and your partner think looks best for now and for later. Then it will always work out.

Good luck choosing the name for your 3rd little miracle.

    Love, Koekoek

I'm also for Thymo. You don't hear it often. Kyano sounds too much like piano to me.

How do you want to pronounce Thymo, as Thimo or as Thijmo? I find both nicer than Kyano.

I don't know why, but Kyano reminds me of a name for a little criminal-in-the-making, sorry.
It's nice for a musician though, but not for, say, a businessman, but that's the association I have, it's all very personal of course.
I also think you'll then get Ryan-Kyan (although it depends on whether you pronounce Ryan as Rian or in the English way...)

What a lovely name your daughter has!

I think Kyano is nicer, but spelled as Keano. Then it also looks less like Ryan. I also don't think Thymo is completely bad, but if you're going to pronounce it as Timo, I think the spelling Thymo is too complicated. It reminds me more of Thermo.. And I think Kyano is a tough name, just like Jailey and Ryan. Timo sounds a bit more wimpy to me. But that's just my opinion, since you're asking for opinions.. Just do what YOU and your partner find the most beautiful, that's what matters!

I just find it really hard to choose haha. You all make good points that I’m also thinking about, which makes it so tough to decide which name I like best. But it’s time to finally make a decision since I’m already 35 weeks pregnant.

Honestly, I find Thymo a bit too fussy and not that pretty. I'd just go for Timo then. I'm also wondering about the pronunciation, by the way. The name sounds English because of the 'y', so it's natural to think of it as 'taai-moo'.
I think I like Kian or Keano the most, just pronounced exactly as they're written.

I think Kyano is a prettier name (than Keano, actually). But I don't like it as much in combination.

I also think Thymo is nice, but then spelled as Timo.

What do you think of Tygo/Tycho? If you want to keep the Y and something a bit 'cooler' than Thymo..

    Thanks for the comments!

Other names are basically not an option anymore! There's no time left to get used to them. Besides, I really don't like the name Wesley, and Jayden sounds too much like Jailey, which we already have. I don't want names with the same first letter since we only have one first name and you end up with the same initial anyway.

We think Thymo sounds nicer than Timo, and the same goes for Kyano—we think it's nicer than Keano, so we'll stick with that So one of those two will have to be it in the end.

Tygo is already out because someone else here already has that name, and we don't want to have the same one as them

Indeed, it's totally different in pronunciation but the spelling isn't. I found that a bit silly, especially if you're sending a card or something to someone with all the names on it, and those two then look almost the same. But apparently, I find that more bothersome than others do

They're both not really my taste, but they're both great names that fit well with your other two kids. I'd probably go for a different spelling myself, but I totally get why you like this version better with your other children. If I had to choose, I'd go with Thymo, I think.

My son is called Keyano. He doesn't mind them rhyming his name with piano. There are other kids in his class with names that rhyme with piano too. Lots of names ending in 'no' can be rhymed. My eldest son is called Justin. Nothing rhymes with that, but he used to be called Justin Bieber a lot years ago, and he found that really annoying. So it doesn't matter how you name your child; kids will always come up with something.

Thymo rhymes with Nemo the clownfish again. It really depends on how you pronounce it; some say it with an 'e', others pronounce it with an 'i' as it should be.

    Good luck!

Hi there, I’d go with Thymo. Kyano is a crap name.
