Do you also think the RIVM is such a disgusting organization?

I had to go back to the pediatric clinic today for my little girl's vaccinations.

Since I wanted to start the shots a bit later, delay the BMR shot until much later, and follow a more spread-out schedule, I wanted to make good arrangements again, just like I did with my other two kids. What do you think? The RIVM has now forbidden that! The pediatric clinic is no longer allowed to deviate from the holy RIVM standards. You either do it exactly as the RIVM says, or you don't get any vaccinations.

I was, of course, very surprised and immediately called the RIVM. I got a very condescending lady on the phone who told me right away that this was best for my child and that there was a possibility to do it differently. She couldn't tell me why it was possible to do it differently a few months ago. She also couldn't explain why an early and combined vaccination schedule would be better than a spread-out one. Nor could she tell me why my child, who is at no risk for hepatitis, should be vaccinated for it.

Sorry, what pure nonsense and, on top of that, arrogance. I completely understand that vaccinating your child against dangerous diseases is a good plan, but I'd rather decide myself at what pace and which vaccinations to use. If they could present a well-founded argument, I'd be willing to listen, but they can't.

I really don't like being blackmailed with an all-or-nothing hostage situation regarding my child's health.

The result is that I'm just going to Belgium for my vaccinations. Our southern neighbors have it much better organized and, moreover, use proven better vaccines.

Ugh, what a typically Dutch bureaucratic mess!

We've already had a few discussions with the RIVM and the health center, and now we're getting some vaccines through our GP, paying for them ourselves. It's really annoying that they act like you're obligated to do it their way, when that's not the case. All vaccinations are at your own discretion, but you're not allowed to deviate from their guidelines. Really frustrating.....
