Naming!

Hi everyone!

I'm expecting our second child (21 weeks now) and we know it's going to be a boy. We've been proud parents of a little girl for almost 2 years now!

I've been struggling with the name for a while. We've pretty much settled on the first name, but we want to name the second name after the grandfathers/great-grandfathers. It's been quite tricky since these aren't very common names these days. I hope you can help me out and maybe have a good idea...... It would be nice to combine two names into something like a blend!

The names of the grandfathers and great-grandfathers are:
Machiel Klaas, Joannes Marijnus (René), Leonardus Bernardus Franciscus, Bouko, Petrus Paulus (Peter), Wilhelm Friederich Carl

By the way, our daughter's second name is named after two great-grandmothers who had Isa and Anna in their names, and we made Lisanna out of that.

I hope one of you has a nice idea or can help me get started! Looking forward to your reactions!

Greetings,
Petra

Phew, you're not making it easy for me :-)

I've been puzzling over it but haven't found a name that really stands out yet.

I think Bouko, Carl, and Machiel are all nice middle names. But do you want to include all of them (seems tricky) or just pick one from the list? You need to see which one fits best with the first name and make sure you don't end up with any weird combinations with the initials and last name, for example.

@ Evelien: thank you for trying, I find it difficult too.....
@ Anoniem: The first name will be Tijn or something similar..... Machiel is unfortunately already taken by another family member! I'd love to incorporate the names with a few letters or part of them. But I'm afraid it's going to be tricky!

Anyway, thanks for your efforts so far :-)

    Hi Petra,
I'm trying to figure it out with you, but it's quite tricky!
I come up with: Auke, Merijn

Thank you all for your replies!

I'm currently in favor of Tijn Marijn, but my partner doesn't really like that they rhyme!
What do you all think? Is that okay or is it a no-go?

    Best,
    Petra

Marijn is indeed a beautiful first name, and you can shorten it to Tijn as a nickname. If needed, you could officially make it Martijn, but Marijn is nicer... And as a middle name, I personally think Leonard or Bernard are nice. The full name is only really used at diploma ceremonies and such anyway, right? And if he's being naughty: Marijn Leonard de Vries, come here now!
In everyday use, he'd just be called Tijn. Tijntje. Tijn de Vries. Or whatever last name you choose.
It's nice that you're also naming after someone, that's something I always wanted to do too! And we're doing it
    Good luck! Greetings, Rinske
