I'd go for Ellis, the pronunciation is clearer than with Alice.

With Ellis, the pronunciation might be clearer, but I find it less pretty. I think Alice is more beautiful and is also quite clear (Alice in Wonderland is pronounced well by everyone). Do you have no preference?

We really like Alice. The only reason we're considering Ellis is because that spelling is much more unique...

I like Ellis! My eldest daughter is currently reading a lot of the Ellis and Thelma series. I think it looks nice. Maybe people still see Alice as Alies. And I find the c less pretty than an s, but yeah, that's just a small thing and a matter of taste.

I think Alice is too English for a Dutch child.

I personally find Alice more unique, it's less literally spelled and it's easier to understand and pronounce internationally.

    I vote for Ellis.
But that's because I know someone who pronounces Alice as Alies.
Both work really well, so you should follow your own preference.

I know both an Ellis and an Alice, and they're both pronounced as Ellis. I also know an Alice who's pronounced as Alies. So anything goes! I'd just go with whatever you feel completely comfortable with. I have to say, I think both options are nice! I don't think you can make a wrong choice.

I'd go for Alice, especially if it's your preference. I find it much more elegant and beautiful.
Maybe it's also because I met an Ellis who could give off quite a rough vibe.
