Miscarriage (with photo)

Hi everyone, I was 6-7 weeks pregnant. Had my first scan on Tuesday and nothing was visible; the OB/GYN suspected a miscarriage or BZC (which he also couldn't find via internal scan). Terrible news since we've been trying for 2.5 years and already had a miscarriage last year.

Yesterday around 10:30 I was at work and started getting mild cramps one after another, accompanied by light bleeding. By 3 PM the cramps became unbearable, so I got in the car and drove home. Once home, I nearly fainted from the pain and felt a 'pop'. Then I found this piece in my underwear. The pain and bleeding subsided after that and now it's just a dull menstrual-like ache.

Here's a photo of what it looked like, and I hope someone can tell me what it is and what I was looking at... Anyone?

Terrible that you have to go through this too...
What you see on the photo is probably a piece of placenta with the baby

    Strength in processing it.

    Love Ju or well mavanmi

    Hey Ju,

Thank you for your reply, did you have this too?

This is my second miscarriage/baby. The first time I lost everything in pieces. This one felt quite big and it scared me a bit.

Going to see the gynecologist to check if it's gone, I hope I don't have to be curetted

That's absolutely terrible for you! I can imagine this is a huge shock...
Hopefully you don't have to have a D&C...

Wishing you lots of strength while you process this

Yes, I’ve had it too, about 3 times.
And the first time I also lost everything in pieces..
But then I still got cured ..
It’s awful that you’ve had to go through this already 2x.
Hopefully you won’t have to go through it again.

Love and let me know how it went with the gyn.

Hey ladies, just got back from the OB. My uterus is clear and it looks like everything has passed. The fallopian tubes also looked good. Tomorrow morning I'll have blood drawn to check the hCG level; it needs to be around 150 for everything to be out. Otherwise, the embryo might still be somewhere, which wouldn't be good news. I didn't need a D&C ^^Hallelujah^^

All in all, it's terrible to go through this again. But we'll get there one day!

I showed the photo to the OB and this is what it is: The top and bottom parts are strands of the uterine lining. The middle part is a blood clot with what is likely the miscarried embryo and the beginning of the placenta, etc. If you hold the two ends (those little strands at the top and bottom) together, it looks like a small pear. That's probably how it was sitting in the uterus, and because it was surrounded by uterine lining tissue, it wasn't visible on the ultrasound.

    Xx

Okay, good that you're getting a D&C now. And let's hope the hCG drops quickly...
Then I was right that it was the placenta and the embryo..
I've seen it twice myself like this and the first time there was so much blood, so intense..
I wouldn't wish it on anyone...

I hope you're pregnant again soon.

    Love

Oh, that's so hard for you, NathalieV
I also just went through an MC myself. And I also held a piece of the little one in my hands.
Life is sometimes not fair at all, is it
Wishing you lots of strength to give it a place again

    That's so sad, Nathalie!
I don't have experience with this, but I sincerely wish you strength in your loss.
I hope you'll soon find the strength to try again.

    Love, Eva.

I really wanted to become pregnant. Since 22/06 I've been testing lightly positive. We were super happy. Unfortunately, already on Tuesday I had light bleeding, so I went to the GP with brown discharge. I thought it was smart to wait it out. Last night I had a fever and severe stomach pain that kept me up all night, and at 6 am this morning a heavy bleeding started. I'm now at home processing everything. I called the GP who said it's about miscarriage. And advised me to wait a week and take it easy.
I find it very strange that my GP isn't doing anything regarding follow-up and whether everything has cleared out, and whether I can get pregnant again.

Just as an addition to the above for those who know and have experienced it. How long does it take before I can get pregnant again, and can I even do that at all

I had a miscarriage in January and am now just a few weeks pregnant. Hope everything goes well now. First ultrasound on Thursday. It took me about 2 months to get my period again after the miscarriage.

    Anonymous,
If the OB/GYN doesn't find a cause for the miscarriage, you should normally have just as much chance of a healthy pregnancy as before the miscarriage. I had a D&C last week and the OB/GYN said it won't affect a future pregnancy. However, he advises us to wait for 2 cycles. I do hope my cycle doesn't take months to return :-(

    Hi ladies,
I found out on June 8th that my baby's heart had stopped beating. I was 11 weeks and 3 days pregnant at the time. The heartbeat had stopped at 9 weeks and 5 days. After taking Cytotec twice, the baby was finally expelled. It looked like a tiny little human and lay there like a small turtle. I lost the baby due to all the misery in the hospital. On June 26th, I was still treated for retained tissue. I've been bleeding heavily for 4 weeks now. It turns out there are still blood clots in my uterus. I've been given Provera and Cyclokapron since Friday to stop the bleeding and reduce the clots. After this, I hope to get a good period soon and get pregnant again quickly. Does anyone happen to have experience with getting pregnant after Provera??

    Best, Mirella
