Jaw muscle spasms from exhaustion.

Hey ladies,

I've been to the dentist a few times lately, and now I have a jaw muscle spasm. This is because they worked so terribly on that one tooth (exposed root). But this isn't going away due to tiredness. I've already gotten a second opinion, and the verdict was: rest, relax, do things you enjoy. I was referred to my GP, who immediately gave me 1.5 weeks off work.

Now, this pain and spasm runs from my chin to my ear (left side). It hurts constantly, but occasionally I get sharp pains that are almost unbearable. It's so bad that I can't hold back my tears; I have truly terrible pain at those moments. But how can I rest when I can barely sleep at night? I'm sitting more upright in bed than anything else. It's gotten worse in the last few days, and apparently, the more tired I am, the longer it takes for this to go away.

I'm at my wit's end.

Does anyone recognize this and what did you do? How did it resolve?

Best,

Do you have painkillers? Are you sure it's a muscle cramp and not an inflammation? AB might help with that...

And otherwise, maybe check if you can take painkillers..

I’m allowed to take Dafalgan and take two of them, but they barely do anything, and during the peaks, they don’t do anything at all.
It’s definitely not an inflammation, two different dentists have checked it.
    What is AB?

    Thx...

Do you happen to grind your teeth while sleeping? That could also keep it going.

    Hey Anke,
yes, I do that indeed. And now that I think about it, I sometimes clench my teeth really hard during the day too. Do you know this? Any idea how I can stop doing this?

That’s stress; you can get a night nurse for that, but it takes weeks to get everything sorted. Until then, definitely relax and keep a close eye on yourself all day to make sure you don’t bite. Otherwise, set an alarm every 30 minutes to remind yourself to check.

I meant to write "night guardian." Stupid iPad

I already have to drink Hépar water (a liter a day) for the magnesium.
During the day I try to pay attention to clenching, but it's indeed not easy. Maybe a little alarm would be an option.
Now, could all this be intensified by pregnancy fatigue?
I didn't have this at all with my first...

Oh, and that night guard, I was thinking about that too. But it does take a while. Now I found one via internetdrogist, where you put it in hot water, then put it in your mouth to take shape, and voila, you have a guard. This one costs only 16 euros, is not exactly reliable...?

I wouldn't know what kind of crap you could get into then and end up in your placenta. Maybe nothing, but maybe something too I wouldn't bet on it.

I had exactly the same thing. For me, massaging my jaw and occasionally taking some muscleflor and taking a week off helped.

Meh, that was my idea too...

Well, I've already been home since last Thursday and will be fully home for the next week as well because it's getting heavier every day. The fatigue is really taking its toll, so the pain is getting harder to bear... What is muscle fiber?
    Thanks for your suggestions.
