which names. boy and girl
We're expecting our first baby in May.. We don't want to know what it is so we have to pick 2 names.
We already have a shortlist of names we like but we can't decide.
We want something special but still simple and not too common.
For a boy:
- Mees
- Luuc
- Daan
- Lux
For a girl:
- Vera
- Veerle
- Eva
- Lissa

For a girl, Lissa. For a boy, the first three come up quite often, but I like Luuc the best, and Lux isn't really my thing. -

For boys, nothing really, sorry.
Luuk sounds better with a k than with a c. -

For boys, all the names come up quite a bit except for Lux, but I think Mees is the nicest.
For girls, I don't really like Lissa; it looks like a misspelling of Lisa. I also think Veerle is a lovely name. It's common in Belgium but not so much here. -

I think all the names are okay, but Lux feels very Amsterdam-Zuid and Mees is super popular.
Favorite: Daan and Vera. -

You write "we want something special and not too common". In my opinion, Daan has been high in the top 10 for a few years now (I know 7 of them), so honestly, I don't find this name really special (anymore), precisely because it's so common. Luuc sounds nice too!
Eva and Lissa are nice...
Lux and Veerle aren't really my taste... -

Daan, Luuc, and Eva (Evie, etc.) come in all sorts of variations and I think they're quite common.
I'd go with Lissa / Lisse for a girl and Duuc for a boy. -

I like them all except Lux and Lissa (it seems like an abbreviation of Melissa).
Mees and Veerle are probably the least common of the remaining names.
