Good morning ladies, I have a question. I did three tests and they all said I was pregnant, but then my mother-in-law came over this morning and the test was negative. She said it could be because I was still very early on, but I was still doubtful so I took another test and it said not pregnant. Now I'm worried, what do you all think about this?

Hi Bianca, that's annoying. I can imagine you're doubting. But the CB clearly said 1-2 weeks pregnant. I'd have a little blood test done at the GP on Monday. Then you'll have absolute certainty.

    Hi Bianca,

I see here that you've already taken a test and it said you're not pregnant. Well, if I were you, I'd definitely get a test done by the GP as Evelien suggests. That way you'll have some certainty and won't keep doubting. Strength, girl. I hope you're still pregnant.

    Kind regards, Ju

Hi Bianca, having read this and your other topic, I see 3 possibilities.

You are pregnant, you had a miscarriage, or you have never been pregnant.

Reading your Clearblue stick, I suspect you were only 1 week pregnant at that time. The fact that you lost blood today could indicate an implantation bleed, which also explains the negative tests. The baby produces some hormones, and that's what the Clearblue test reacts to. The other less sensitive tests can only be used after implantation, when your own body only then 'knows' you are pregnant.

The second option is less likely, but it could indeed be that something went wrong. If the blood is slimy, that could indicate that is the case.

You should also consider the third option. If your hormones are out of whack, that can in some cases also give a false positive. Then the bleeding would be the start of your cycle. You'll notice that soon enough.

So, looking at the whole picture, it fits most with a pregnancy. I really hope so for you! Unfortunately, you can't do much more than wait and see what happens. Maybe buy another test, a sensitive one, and test again tomorrow morning.

I'm really rooting for you, girl! Good luck, and I really hope you're just nicely pregnant!

But Chantal... A test never shows that you're pregnant if you're not actually pregnant...
Your body has to produce hCG otherwise a test can't come out positive. And being pregnant seems pretty clear on the test!
I really hope for you, Bianca, that you've had an implantation bleed and that you can enjoy it soon!

Hi Lexy, it can definitely happen that a test shows a fixed positive. It happens sometimes when your hormones are a bit out of whack. I don't think that's the case here, but it can be.

Tests even warn for this (in vague terms).
