Is everything okay?

Hi everyone,

I have to be honest about something and I feel it's better to do it this way. Maybe you guys can help me. I'm 16 years old, I've had a boyfriend for 5 months who is 18, and we've been having sex. I'm not on the pill because I got too many hormones in my body which caused my connective tissue to tear and left me with stretch marks. Meanwhile, I went to the GP earlier this week to request the pill again, and this has been requested. I had calculated my ovulation so I knew not to have intercourse on those days, but I was too late with that. On the internet and via the calendar I calculate it, from 11-12 to 12-14 approximately. On 11-12 and 12-12 I had unprotected sex and my boyfriend came inside me. I only wanted to start taking the pill after I got my period, but now I don't know what to do.. We are still young and don't know if I am now "pregnant". Please help me, greetings Noa

The morning-after pill... Most of them need to be taken within 72 hours. But in Belgium (I don't know if you're from Belgium or the Netherlands), there's one available within 5 days. That one requires a prescription. But you really had sex around your ovulation. 16 years old is, as you say yourself, young. If you're not ready for it, I'd get that pill. Starting the regular pill won't change anything here. It can only harm a possible baby. But it won't stop a possible pregnancy. By the way, it's best to start the pill on day 1 of your period the first time. Then you're protected right after your period. Otherwise, you'll need to bridge a 7-day period with a condom.

Yeah, I get it, but I think I'll wait and see, and if I don't get my period, I'll take a test. I don't think the morning-after pill really worked anymore.

I secretly hope it’s positive and that we’ll become a little family. I feel pretty young, but that’s not the hardest part—I’m really scared of what other people might think. On one hand, I tell myself, “Nah, I don’t care,” but on the other hand, it does affect you somehow… I don’t know.

How does your boyfriend feel about it?
Keep in mind that it changes your whole life. Especially if you're still studying and all...
I have a little girl who's now 5 weeks old. It's an immense change. A positive one, but we both have stable jobs, our own house... so the situation is very different.
If your friend is open to it and you've thought it through well, you can definitely take the risk. But if you just got your period, I'd start the pill and finish my studies first... But that's just my thought

Exactly, that's my thought too. If something comes up, I talk it over really well with my partner and we make a decision. But we're nowhere near that yet.
