If you both really like this name, I wouldn’t change it anymore... You’re already 33 weeks! I’m afraid that if you rush to change it now, you might end up regretting it... Besides... In a few years, you or the neighbors might move...
I also think that if you both have a good feeling about Hugo, you should go for Hugo. What if you name the baby Vistor, and then two doors down lives a Victor...
By the way, I think Victor goes really well with Lucas and Maurits... But if your baby feels like Hugo to you, then I'd go for that!
Thanks for the replies! I really was torn, but I think we'll just stick with Hugo after all. After searching a bit more, I also think Rogier is quite nice. I'm going crazy haha!
Nothing wrong with Victor or Rogier, but you'd already decided on Hugo, and a little boy next door shouldn't change that.
My daughter has the same name as the daughters of two different colleagues. My daughter is named after someone, so I don't worry that my colleagues already had that name.
I also think you should stick to the name you had in mind. The child is an individual and has nothing to do with the little boy next door. You didn't choose the name for nothing, so it should go with your baby. I completely understand that it's overwhelming you for now, but I wouldn't deviate from it in this studium.
Victor feels a bit harsh to me personally..
A variant of Hugo could be Tygo, if you still want to change it..
I totally get the hesitation. I saw a birth announcement from a good friend of mine with our name on it. I barely know those people—I’d only seen them once at a birthday party—and I still immediately doubted it! It just feels less original right away.
But on the other hand... someone like that could end up living on our street later, or be on the same school, or...
We’re just going for it! And if this really is your name, I’d do the same if I were you! Maybe you’re already using this name together for the baby, and to you, your little one is already Hugo!
Still, Victor and Rogier are also lovely names!
How’s your relationship with the neighbors? I think it also depends on the bond with the neighbors. We live in a street where we do a lot together with the neighbors. We often eat together in the summer and regularly sit around a campfire outside on the weekends! The kids also always play together, so I would never choose a name that one of the neighborhood kids also has.
The kids will only be a few months apart, so you still have a good chance that they’ll grow up together and maybe become very good friends!
In short, I’d choose a different name, but I base that on my own situation!
Hey everyone, I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my 4th child, a boy. My husband is Antillean, so my kids are mixed-race, but we haven't found the perfect name yet. My 3 kids' names are already: Alix (4, girl), Ariel (2, girl), and ZJordan (1, boy). Do you have any suggestions???
I’d just casually let him know that you happened to choose this name because you think it’s really beautiful.. You don’t even need to ask if he’s okay with it, I think..
But that way he’s in the loop anyway
