What do you think of Faye? Spelling?

Hi ladies,

What do you think of the name Faye? And would you write it as Fay or Faye? Both have the same pronunciation, but I find Faye a bit more feminine and mature for later on, while Fay feels a bit unfinished.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Faye is beautiful, but I think Fae is the prettiest. Other options: Fé, Fee, Fae

Fay finds it looks best written this way.
My niece is also named Fay

Oh, and I overlooked your question about what we think of the name.
I think it's a cute name, very sweet.
My niece is 18 now and has this name

I'm not really into it. I think the spelling with an E is nicer than without.

    Fay or Fee

My daughter is called Faye, and 10 years ago there were only 5 other Fayes in the area. We chose Faye after the actress Faye Dunaway, just Google it once:-)
The only downside, and according to my daughter herself, is that people make "fee" of it (pronunciation wise), and my daughter finds that annoying. Otherwise, we still think her name is very beautiful and you don't hear it much;-)
Lots good luck with the choice.

Really cute name, but then spelled as Fay!

Faye is more beautiful than Fay (three letters is really too few).

    Faye! Lovely!

I thought Faye had to be pronounced like "faaye" but it's just "fee". So I'd also do Fay.

No, it's not pronounced like Fee.
You really have to pronounce the Ye at the end.
Otherwise, you might as well go with Fee.
My daughter can't stand that at all if they call her that

Is it really pronounced as "fee"?
    Now I'm a bit confused.
  13. madelene #14

But what do you mean by how it should be pronounced?
I think Fee sounds really sweet and soft with that pronunciation
  14. madelene #15

My niece, who was called that when she was little, used to be called "feeetje".
    But now she's 18,
and of course she's just called "fee" now.
But it did always sound so cute
  15. brigitte #16

No, Madelene, Fee is pronounced as "Fee" and Faye is pronounced as "Feje".
But everyone makes of it what they want. My daughter herself says that she wants it to be pronounced as it should be.
It's just what you get used to.
