Hi everyone,

I have a huge desire for a baby. For 2 years now I've really wanted to get pregnant. I've had a really nice boyfriend for a year now and he also wants kids, but wants to wait a little while. Now 3 of my friends are pregnant. One is due in February and I'm super happy for her. The other is due in May and the other found out last week that she's pregnant. For the last 2 friends I'm basically happy, but I'm also super jealous because it wasn't planned for them and their relationship and future prospects are chaotic. So then I think, why them and not me? I know it's a nasty thought, but I can't help it. Every day the thought of wanting to get pregnant crosses my mind. And now with my 3rd friend, the longing has only gotten worse. The reason my boyfriend wants to wait a bit is because we don't live together yet and that's all planned for around March, because then he gets a permanent contract. So I really know I need to be patient and that my time will come, but the longing is so strong. I even already have some little baby stuff at home. Does anyone have tips on how to get rid of these thoughts?

Don't feel guilty. Those thoughts are completely normal, even if they feel a bit strange to you. A lot of women here on the forum, including me, have had exactly the same thoughts, and maybe even worse ones It's totally normal since you want a baby so much. As long as you don't say them out loud, there's nothing wrong with it It's just hard when you're still waiting yourself and see so much luck around you. So I'm afraid you'll only stop having those thoughts once you have a little human in your arms.

Hi! I set up a forum myself but haven’t had any replies yet.
I really relate to your story.
I have three sisters-in-law who are pregnant, plus people at work and acquaintances. I also babysit my nephews a lot, ages 2 and 3. I’ve always wanted children, but the longing grows stronger every day. Sometimes I go a bit crazy, like everything reminds me of babies. It makes me so sad that my partner isn’t ready for it yet and wants to wait until “the time is right,” which I don’t know when that is.
He probably doesn’t know either, and I get the feeling he’s going a bit crazy from my baby feelings. So we decided not to talk about it anymore from now on, even though that’s mega hard!! I hope this forum and chatting here will help me with that, and that we can support each other
One of the sisters-in-law just gave birth, and I already got to hold the little drop, and even then I was over the moon and butterflies all over my body!
    Cheers!

I totally get that feeling of being way ahead of the curve: looking up announcement ideas, cute baptism favors (that's really big in Belgium), shopping for maternity clothes... while we're not even close yet!

You also have a young team at work with lots of new moms or pregnant women, so it makes sense that you're super into it yourself.

I think guys are always "ready" in a different way. My boyfriend has gotten used to the idea (I think?!) that we'll stop the pill in April. But I can tell he's not as enthusiastic about it as I am... According to a friend, that kicks in for men once the pregnancy is actually happening or after you've gone through a few rounds...

    Hi Iriske!
Nice that you left a message.

    Yeah, it’s really tough sometimes..
How long did it take for you?
Yesterday we happened to talk about it briefly after not having spoken about it for a while. And I asked if it would happen within a year or if it takes longer. But he didn’t respond to that either; the only thing he says is: our time will come.
And that sounds nice, but I can’t really do anything with it, I find that really hard.
How did you deal with this back then?

    Greetings!

Hi, I'm really struggling with this too. This year, a lot of people around me have become pregnant, and then you start wondering why it's not you. What I did was find things I enjoy doing to keep busy and stop constantly thinking about it. I stopped using ovulation tests and all that half a year ago. Now I only keep track of when my period starts and ends. I also tell myself not to dwell on it every time I think about it—it'll happen naturally. They say that stress can also affect your chances of getting pregnant. Try to enjoy yourself as much as possible and put getting pregnant on the back burner for now.
Have you already gone to the gynecologist?
